Garmin Edge 840 or iGPSport BiNavi/Air?

I am looking to get a bike computer that does the below.

Many suggest the Garmin Edge 1040, but this seems to be out of production in the US (I've not yet plumbed the used market).

So, the options I'm currently looking for are the Garmin Edge 840 and the iGPSport BiNavi/Air. The former due to the dependency on a reputed brand and it's feature set, and the latter as a value proposition with a useful feature set and a bigger screen.

Please guide me through this purchase.

  1. A battery capacity that lasts at least 300KM to 400KM brevets (between 20 to 27 hours) under moderate screen brightness and full sensor support (HR, power, cadence etc.).

  2. Display that is usable under bright sunshine or through sunglasses.

  3. A screen that is usable at night without annoying you with its brightness (support for dark-mode is a bonus).

  4. Detailed maps showing various types of paths with street names.

  5. Mapping with turn-by-turn navigation and audio alerts.

  6. Offline rerouting using cycle-friendly routes.

  7. Climb features (gradient of the entire climb both while riding and while reviewing a route, rider's position, pending distance/time/altitude, support for free-rides too if the appropriate maps are downloaded onto the device)

  8. Support for structured workouts. I'd like to have the ability to create workouts in intervals.icu and execute it on the BiNavi, both indoors (with control of the smart trainers) and outdoors. I'd like alerts when metrics cross pre-defined ranges (eg: alerts when HR drifts beyond Z2, for example).

  9. Easy loading and sharing of routes WRT the device.

  10. Customizable screen real-estate to include metrics (power, HR, cadence, gradient, distance, speed etc.).

  11. Ability to be charged while in use.

  12. Support for Garmin Varia and all its features.

  13. Connects with Strava, Komoot, RideWithGPS etc.

  14. Live-tracking (sharing live location with family and friends).

Nice to have:

  1. Crash/incident detection.

  2. On-device route generation.

  3. Food/hydration alerts.

Thank you.

Are bike radars useful on Indian roads?

How useful are bike radars like the Garmin Varia in India? I don't imagine them being so in cities due to the density of traffic, but do they work reliably on less-dense city streets, country roads and highways?

Do riders find it useful over frequent shoulder checks or rear view mirrors?

Please share your experiences.
