Pano maghanap ng trabaho kung malapit ka na sa retirement age?
My friend (55M) is an engineer and he was a project director for a BIG corporation here in PH. However, a little over 6 months ago, he got fired due to politics. There was a change in administration within the company, and the new boss wanted his own people. In order to replace my friend's position and fill its responsibilities, he got 2 young employees. The new boss promised my friend that there will still be a job opportunity for him in another company and that he will call when he confirms it, but until now, my friend is still waiting and hoping.
Over the past few months, my friend has been nonstop applying to various jobs. The problem is, he keeps getting rejected due to his age and over qualification. His family has been relying on savings, but it is slowly depleting because he is the breadwinner of a family of 8 (wife, 3 children, his parents, and spouse's mother). His parents and mother in law all have maintenance and the 3 children are in school, while his wife tends to all of them.
My friend and his family has never been flashy, in fact, they are frugal. They are financially stable… but until when?
