blanche's clothes

another thing i came to appreciate in my rewatch is just how beautiful blanche's wardrobe was, she got to wear some gorgeous outfits. rue was so smart in negotiating in her contract that she got to keep blanche's wardrobe after the show ended!

not only were the outfits on the show stunning but her earrings and accessories were so pretty too, though most of the time she was always asking to borrow those from rose and dorothy 😂

does anyone have any favourite outfits of hers?

sidenote: has anyone seen maude the sitcom bea was in? after finishing GP i was thinking about maybe starting that i don't really know much about it just that she and rue starred on it together which is why i want to see it to be honest.

is it in the same vein as golden girls or completely different? by that i know the premise will be different but is maude like dorothy at all?

The Golden Palace

I finally bit the bullet and watched The Golden Palace this week after putting it off for so long after I finished a full rewatch of my beloved Golden Girls and was missing them. So I figured I might as well check it out and see how bad it was seeing as it got cancelled after only one season.

To my surprise it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's still not great in my opinion but I would give it 5/10 and that's mostly for the three girls being together and having some of the Golden Girls magic with the jokes and of course for the episode with Dorothy's return.

But ultimately for the life of me I will never understand why they didn't just continue the Golden Girls and recast for a new roommate for an 8th season. From interviews with Rue she felt the same and suggested they do so, taking them out of the house and with a winning formula into running a hotel at their age just made no conceivable sense at all.

The success of the show was about the women being together and that iconic home, I would rather they tried and failed with another season instead of revamping the show but in a different location with two men and a child added on. I mean when Dorothy was going to marry Stan again (which I hated) in S6 that's what they did with Debbie Reynolds guest starring as the new roommate. There would have been plenty of actresses vying for a spot on the show.

It's also sad knowing we never find out what happened to Rose and Blanche and the ending for Sophia going back to Shady Pines full time regardless of the retcon that it was a luxury home now was not believable to me, Dorothy would never have left her there nor would the girls they promised to be together always.

2010 episode downloads for Reid Oliver Storyline

Does anyone happen to have actual downloads of the episodes in the final year relating Reid Oliver's story with Luke, basically from when he came onto the show in 2010 and when he left?
