Police Response Times For Non-Emergency Car Accidents?

My friend and I were involved in a car crash yesterday where I was driving down a road and a transport truck pulled out of a parking lot and hit us on the side of my car. The damage to the car was pretty substantial, but no serious injuries thankfully; however, my friend did get transported to hospital by ambulance from the scene to get checked out. Because of the injuries involved, the collision reporting centre can’t handle it and it has to be investigated by police. I remained on scene for 4 hours and was eventually told by the London police non-emergency line dispatcher to just go home and the police would follow up with me either by phone call or by showing up to my address.

It’s now been about 32 hours since the accident and I’ve still not heard from them. Is this normal? Has anyone had a similar experience before? I’m just a bit anxious because my insurance needs the police report number. I know it’s a low priority call for them, im just curious if anyone had a similar experience and how long it took them to respond.

There is a massive pothole in the right most lane on York street around Colbourne heading towards downtown. I hit it on Friday and it punctured my tire and messed up my rim which is going to cost over $500 to replace. 😱 Given York street lanes are so narrow, it’s hard to avoid.

Yes I am going to report the pothole but be careful if you’re driving around there.
