Just picked up this Raleigh Sports (free!) that is in remarkably decent condition! Unsure of the year, but could be 1970s? I couldn’t find any serial number on the frame.
It’s going to need new handlebar grips and the seat is going to need some conditioning, there’s a good amount of rust, but the tires and brake pads seem new! There are some places where paint is chipped; I’ve been advised to try to find nail polish that is a similar color (by Raleigh for another bike)?
If anybody has any advice on cleaning up the rust or dealing with the leather saddle I’d be grateful. I’m pretty well versed with bike maintenance, but making things pretty is another story…
Stoked to add another older Raleigh to our quiver, tune it up and take it for a spin!
