Rare Character SB decoding help
My first Rare Character SB found in Colorado. I was curious if someone could help me figure out who likely distilled this Bourbon. On RCs website, they label PLT barrel code as "platinum", but very little other information. I don't recognize the mashbill; 78-13-9. Any help here? It has silver wax, if that matters.
Whiskey drop at on of my locals today
Eagle Rare store picks for 41, JD12 for 120, JD12 for 180 and rye for 100. I showed up 20 minutes before the drop, so I missed JD14, HH22 and some others I wouldn't mind having, but overall, I'm fairly content with what I got and what I paid. I truly thought I'd never score another age-stated JD this year, but sometimes, things just line up. I'm going back tomorrow for round 2 as they're supposed to have a different lineup.
Road trip through Colorado and Wyoming.
Living in a whiskey desert, I have never even seen these, let alone at a good price. There were still plenty more I wanted, just broke the budget and ran out of room. All were damn near MSRP, some under. I regret nothing 🤣
I found a Penelope Havana batch 2 last night at Total Wine for almost MSRP, so I pulled the trigger. I totally understand the polarization when it comes to this bottle. This one is sweet! I typically reach for a whiskey flavored whiskey, but definitely enjoy finished whiskies, especially paired with a cigar. But for my palate, this one is just too "finished". I don't hate it, but it just has very little whiskey notes, mainly just sweet maple syrup. I think i prefer Widow Jane Decadence when it comes to syrup finished whiskey. I don't think I'd buy another bottle, especially for 85.
Have you tried it? Would you buy it again?
As a side note, I tried Zbiotics "hangover preventer". 100% did nothing for me. 😪
