There’s apparently a surge of human accounts getting flagged as bots due to “unauthentic behaviors”, but other than liking and retweeting a lot, I don’t see why they’re getting flagged. Do we know how widespread this is and what exactly triggers it? If engagement is what they want, isn’t liking and retweeting exactly that?

So for some context… it’s going to be my fourth time there, but first time for my friend. There’s an event I want to go to that’s early June so I’m looking to book the flight soon so it isn’t all too short notice.

I’m already packed more or less, and I just need word from my friend about our plans. (Hotel situation, itinerary, etc.) He brought up an idea of having a meeting to get it all ironed out and that he’d text me when he’s ready. A week went by with no word, so he set it back to the week after, but still no word even then. I get the impression he’s genuinely busy and not forgetful, since I’ve known him for around 15 years.

Taking a trip across the world isn’t something most people do on a dime. Perhaps I’m being too “now now now” with this sort of thing. Would it be better for me to go on this June trip alone and then go whenever he’s ready? I’ve bugged him about this meeting too much to ask again.

So I‘m staying at a place that’s in walking distance from an Aeon Town, and that got me thinking; What’s mall culture like historically in Japan?

In the US, it peaked in the 80’s and 90’s, with malls being a peak hangout spot for teens. Nowadays, many malls are dead or closing, though admittedly some are still popular, but it isn’t the same.
