What's the deal with Kars4Kids? What do they even do and what's the whole controversy surrounding them?

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/cbc-kars4kids-ads-pulled-9.7204937

I hear them on the radio on the way to work like 4 times in the span of 30 minutes.

I don't really pay attention to what their saying I only remember "Kars 4 kids, that's Kars for Kids with a K!"

I passively heard a streamer on Twitch talking about it yesterday and now I just saw a headline for it over on r/television which I posted the link to.

So.... who are they and what did they do wrong?

~~~
EDIT:
It's reasons like this I don't donate to charities.
I give my time to help out with causes rather than my money. There's been so many times a 'homeless' person asked me for money for food and I said 'okay, I'll go buy your food, what do you want me to get you?' only for them to get pissed off and walk away.
There are very few that you can actually trust. You can trust Ronald McDonald House and the Salvation Army. Ronald McDonald paid to house my sister and her family by the hospital where her baby son was going through treatment. The Salvation Army has helped me and my family through our days of poverty by having volunteers come and furnish our home.
Every place you ever work at that has a charity they are partnered with like "I am a Girl" or "Dreams Take Flight" are absolutely scams.
I had a super wealthy friend who had an indoor pool in the house with a Beamer in the driveway whose parents had a job title of 'Charity Director' for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. His mom and dad had a salary of $200K EACH, in addition to all the free stuff and benefits they got from people who thought the money was actually going to causes like 'Run for the Cure' and shit. No one should ever be making a salary of $400k+ for charity work.
What's the deal with dela Rosa in the Philippines?
I was trying to read up on the "lockdown" in the Phillipines https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Philippine_Senate_lockdown, but it's disorganised and I dont understand the motivations.
Why did dela Rosa come back after disappearing since November?
Why were some people in the senate protecting him?
Why were the Senate carrying on as if nothing has happened, like assigning dela Rosa to be the chair on the committee on public order and drugs?
Why did the other side require a shooting? Was it an international police force, and if so, shouldnt the government be working with them?
What's up with people breaking into malls over Swatch watches?
I just saw a story about a huge crowd at King of Prussia Mall trying to force their way in before a Swatch release, to the point where people allegedly broke doors and police had to respond.
I’m completely out of the loop here. Since when are Swatch watches worth this level of hype? Is this tied to some limited edition collaboration, resale market, influencer thing, or what?
I remember Swatch as colorful mall watches from the 90s, not something people would line up at 4am for. What changed?
What is going on with the artist NSnicolass02 Instagram account?
He’s an artist that’s drawn Marvel and DC characters. I remember liking his drawings of the Fantastic Four on Instagram, but when I try searching for the account it just doesn’t appear. Was the artist banned or something? They have a Twitter if anyone wants to check it out. They haven’t posted anything though.
What is going on with Saudi-backed movie 'Desert Warrior' with 150 million budget becoming a major box office flop with no apparent marketing whatsoever?
I only learned recently about the existence of this movie from news about it being a major flop despite having a whopping 150 million budget (and a high profile hollywood actor cast).
I though it was just me not being updated to the news, but majority of Twitter users are unaware about it too.
What is going on with this movie?
What's up with people refusing to complete the 2026 Canadian census?
I am seeing a lot of posts on Instagram about how some Canadians are refusing to fill out this year's census. Examples below:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/DYVca5SPSU7/?igsh=MWZlb3JnMHh4MXQwbg==
https://www.instagram.com/p/DYCv5kuoBmF/?igsh=eTBjbjl4d3J6aGhj
The posts that I am finding are mostly from people criticizing the choice and explaining why the census is a normal thing. What I cannot find, are the posts designed to convince that group of people that filling out the census is bad.
Is it a form of protest to this government? Is it a privacy thing? Nothing I am finding online would convince me(personally) to not fill out the census. Are there actual legitimate arguments for not filling it out and eating the $500 fine? Or is it just fear mongering for clicks?
I'm hoping someone can provide a source or explanation that would shed some light on this.
