Hi friends, I (21) know so many people are having trouble getting jobs and it's awful. The job market in the USA is genuinely terrible.

I left my last position because they are unable to let me work from home due to a lack of remote stations. I am moving across the country, so commuting is basically impossible.

I'm going to start with the fact that I have been working since I was 14 years old. I have multiple years of experience working in a professional setting whether it be in an office or a grocery store. The past 2.5 years I worked in an industry that is hurting from a lack of personnel, yet for some reason no one wants to even look at my resume. I have applied to 1,206 positions at multiple companies with two interviews and ZERO callbacks. I'm so over it. I have been looking for a job since November of 2025 (May 2026 now).

It's so disheartening after all of the work I have put into tailoring each resume and cover letter. Every company I have emailed and called SAYS they are urgently hiring, but the best I can get back is a request to apply on the website again that will throw out my resume for not having every single buzz word in the job description.

Almost every job I have applied to has me submit my resume/ cover letter, write it AGAIN in the application, take a 5-20 min "personality quiz" then write a paragraph on why I would be a good fit. It's repetitive and wastes time. I understand a few clarifying questions, but what is the point of having a resume/ cover letter when I'm basically just putting it in the application?

I can't even get a normal retail job because they reject me for being "over qualified". YOU'RE URGENTLY HIRING. LET ME WORK THERE. I JUST NEED ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR MY CAR. PLEASE. All I ask is I get at least the stete's minimum wage at this point. My standards are on the floor.
