Looking for witnesses: Bottle thrown on US-101 North near Alum Rock exit, 10/3/2026 at 3:45 PM
On October 3, 2026, around 3:45 PM, someone in a white Toyota RAV4 threw what appeared to be a glass bottle onto northbound US-101 in San Jose, just before Exit 386A for Alum Rock Avenue / Santa Clara Street. It shattered in front of my Tesla, and the debris damaged my car. The RAV4 then crossed several lanes and took the exit.
Footage from my other camera angles also shows the RAV4 following other vehicles very closely and making abrupt lane changes before passing me.
The throw is visible around 0:04 in the attached front-camera video. I’ve contacted CHP and am looking for witnesses or additional dashcam footage.

Some comments suggest I was “lane camping” and deserved this. For context, I was in the HOV lane with four passengers, using FSD, with no one remotely close behind me and approximately five car lengths between me and the vehicle ahead. Regardless of anyone’s opinion of my driving, throwing a glass bottle onto a freeway puts people at risk.

The rear-camera video (https://www.reddit.com/r/SanJose/s/zEqNOkC8dK) shows no vehicles anywhere close behind me in my lane throughout the clip. The freeway behind me was wide open.
In the right-pillar footage (https://www.reddit.com/r/SanJose/s/y5AbJV0ak4), around 0:13, the RAV4 is approximately three lanes to my right, following closely behind another vehicle. It then moves two lanes left and briefly leaves the camera’s view. Around 0:25, it reappears alongside me, and the driver appears to be drinking from an object resembling a glass bottle.
Even if I had made a driving mistake, that would not justify someone throwing a glass bottle onto the freeway, damaging my car, and putting others at risk.
For those asking why I’m looking for more evidence, I already have footage of the incident. I’m asking whether anyone else witnessed this vehicle driving dangerously in the area around that time or has another angle to share with CHP. Acting like this puts everyone nearby at risk, and I want to make sure any additional firsthand accounts are documented.
