VGA light on and code "08" on x870e elite X3D
Ho guys!
I'm building my PC after 12 years with my old one.
I'm going for this build:
- Aorus x970e elite x3d
- Ryzen 7 7800x3d
- 32GB of Corsair vengeance cl30
- sapphire nitro+ 9070XT
And a couple of SSDs.
Now, when I boot up the PC i get the VGA Red light on the motherboard with code "08" on the display, even tho the PC boots fine into windows, and I can even get signal to the monitor if I connect the cable to the MOBO's HDMI port.
I worked on the issue for 4 hours straight: tried different cables, tried a different GPU, updated the bios, ecc. Ecc.
Part of the troubleshooting was using my old 1070Ti to test whether it was a gpu or motherboard issue, maybe concerning the first PCIe slot closest to the CPU. Same error.
The only time I got the old GPU to work was when plugging it in on another PCIe slot, because the 9070XT can't go there and I could only test that option this way.
Now, I need some help/reassurance/reality check:
- could it be that the first PCIe slot is damaged?
- might it have to do with the Memory training process?
- tried looking online, found some info about the fact that the first PCIe slot is directly connected to CPU and that if you screw the fan too tight on the CPU it might block the communication, or it might even be that one of the CPUs pins is tilted and needs to be straightened. Can it even be this option?
I want to try everything before going with MOBO'S warranty and have it changed....
Thanks for anyone who reads and tries to help!
