okay so my dad bought a minecraft account for me and my sister to share back in 2022 and it was linked to his microsoft account. we both had it signed in on our laptops and could play it with no issues up till now.

i recently got a new laptop for college and now that im on summer break, me and my friends wanted to create a server and play mc together, so i downloaded the launcher on my new laptop.

i tried signing in with my dad's microsoft account but i got the message that this account doesn't own mc, which had me confused because we have the reciepts and everything for it, all linking back to said ms account.

so i got on my sisters laptop, which still runs the game, and we checked the account linked to it and it was this weird outlook id which was essentially the username + a bunch of random letters + @ outlook. com as the tag.
we've never made this account, neither has our dad.

we tried resetting the password, thinking that maybe it was some technical mistake on our part, assuming that the recovery email would be one of ours, but it was also a random email. since microsoft censors email's we could only see cx (the first two letters of the gamertag) and the tag @ xbox-live. online
again, never made or heard of the account.

what's more, is that when we tried going to mc's website to check, it logged us out so we have no way back into the same account.

we also tried checking the xbox app on my sisters laptop which was still logged into the account, but we couldn't navigate it without it repeatedly prompting us to sign in again everytime we clicked something. we ended up leaving it in fear that we'd lose access to the game entirely.

she's still able to play through lunar client (mc launcher logged her out and thankfully she had both) and we've contacted mc help but i wanted to ask here as well

i literally can't figure out what is going on. my first instinct is to say that the account got hacked but im not sure how that happened considering we've only ever played in private networks and have never used mods.

buying the game again isn't really an option right now so i really want to find a solution or at least an explanation on how this happened
