"Other Ties" Residence permit
Hi, I have seen on Migrationsverket a page about being granted a residence permit through "Other Ties to Sweden"; specifically about Swedish ancestry, but it is pretty vague.
I want to move to Sweden either with a work visa or through this permit option, and think I should try it first. My dad is from Sweden, moved to Canada at age 12, but lived and worked in Sweden for 3 years as a young adult. He has visited maybe 3 times in the last 20 years. He is not a citizen anymore, I think since when he gained Canadian citizenship. I have been to Sweden once, just this year. I am still learning Swedish but am not that bad.
Basically my question is what are the general requirements for these special permits to be granted, and if I can write a good enough application in Swedish what are my chances?
