hair dye and bleach question

I need advice on how to fix and even out my hair color at home for now. I am very aware that it won’t be fully perfect, but anything that can possibly help is alright for me.

My hair is naturally 4B to 4C (mostly 4C). Before bleaching it I had used L’Oréal box dye on my hair specifically Black Cherry and Midnight Violet. I first used box dye around September or October and then again around November. A few months ago (3 months) maybe a bit more my hair was bleached and colored by my friend. After that I had my hair in box braids for about 2 months and I just recently took them out.

After bleaching we used Strawberry Leopard Blue
for the “ghost” roots and Strawberry Leopard purple for the rest of my hair. The application ended up being pretty patchy all around since it was not professionally done but I did not really mind it at the time. When it was bleached only the front sections and parts of the back lifted to a yellow tone. And the blue most showed up in the front. A lot of the rest turned more of an auburn light brown color but there were also darker patches throughout so it was not evenly lifted.

After bleaching my curl pattern became a tiny bit more 4B in some areas but overall not a huge change. When I originally used the L’Oréal box dye I also noticed my hair became easier to detangle compared to before.
Now the color has faded unevenly and I still have leftover blue purple and some green tones in different sections.

My curl pattern loosened a little overall from all the coloring but not by a huge amount and I have had minimal shedding even after using box dye. Right now I have natural root growth plus all the leftover patchy color.
Also the photos I have were taken right after taking out my box braids and doing a quick wash before my full routine so my hair was not stretched or in its fully defined curly state yet and you can still see some braid pattern in it.

My goal is to make my hair color look more even and ideally get it lighter too. As of right now I cannot go to a stylist but I definitely will in the near future. I know this probably was not the smartest decision and I got a little too color happy 😭 but I just need advice on what I can realistically do now without making it worse. Would you use a color remover first would you do a bleach bath or full bleach or another dye over it? Should I focus on evening it out first and worry about going lighter later?

Any advice on the safest way to even this out, do a specific color that works best, or how to possibly lighten it would really help.

hair dye for upcoming mri

This will be my first MRI since dyeing my hair. My hair was bleached (L’Oreal) and dyed with Strawberry Leopard about 3 months ago, and before that I used L’Oreal box dye (Black Cherry and Midnight Violet I think) around September/October. One of the dye boxes said something like “high-intensity shimmering color,” and now I’m overthinking whether any of the dyes could have had metal salts or ingredients that might cause heating in the MRI.

I know the dye isn’t fresh and it’s been a few months, but since it’s a cervical spine MRI and my head/hair will be close to the area, would my scalp burn or be in pain during the scan?

Any MRI specialists/techs/radiologists have insight on this? Or anyone who has had their hair dyed a while back? My MRI anxiety has definitely lessened overall thanks to this subreddit, so this was just a quick question I had. I’ll obviously consult with the MRI specialist/tech before the scan as well.

mri in a week…

Hi everyone, I’m a 19F and I have a cervical spine/neck MRI coming up. The enclosed space honestly isn’t what I’m worried about. My biggest fear is something completely different.

I’m terrified that someone might accidentally leave a metal object in the MRI room (like an oxygen tank or some other piece of equipment that isn’t MRI-safe) and forget about it before I go in. I’ve seen some horror stories online about MRI accidents, and unfortunately I made the mistake of going down a rabbit hole reading about them because I have pretty bad health anxiety.

Another thing that’s been worrying me is that I’ve come across a few people online who said they experienced excruciating pain during their MRI, even though they didn’t have any metal in their bodies. They said the pain stopped once the scan was over, but now I’m scared that I’ll somehow be one of those rare people who experiences that.

I know this probably sounds silly, but I genuinely don’t know how to manage the anxiety around this. Rationally, I know MRI departments have safety protocols, but my brain keeps jumping to “What if someone forgot something?” or “What if I’m the rare exception?”
For some background, I actually had a 2–3 hour full-body MRI when I was around 11 or 12 years old. Nothing bad happened. I remember freaking out a bit at first, pressing the call button, and the staff checked in with me. After that, I calmed down and got through the rest of the scan without any issues.

The MRI I’m having now is actually at the exact same hospital where I had that MRI as a kid, and it’s the same hospital I’ve been going to for years. They also offer headphones and music during the scan, and I think now that I’m older I can handle the enclosed space for the most part. It’s really not the claustrophobia aspect that’s bothering me, it’s all the research I’ve been doing online that’s sent me into a spiral and made me fixate on everything that could possibly go wrong.

Since this subreddit has a lot of MRI professionals, I’d really appreciate your perspective. How do you deal with making sure nothing unsafe is left in the MRI room before a patient is brought in? Are there protocols or checks that help prevent something like an oxygen tank or other non-MRI-safe equipment from accidentally being left behind? Is there anything reasonable I can do or ask before my scan that might help reassure me, or is this something I simply need to trust the MRI team with? I’m mainly looking for advice on how to manage this specific fear from people who work around MRI scanners every day.
