Hi all,

Just purchased my new a6700 today and am looking for some help with a lens recommendation.

I’ve upgraded from an older a5100 so have the standard 16-50mm kit lens from that.

Can’t decide between the Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 art lens or the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8, both of which seem to review well.

Significantly price difference between the 2 and I’m not sure with my eyesight I’ll particularly notice the sharper image from the Sigma. So do I go for the Tamron for the additional focal length??

Interested in peoples thoughts before I purchase?

Would mostly be used for street/landscape photography.

Update — thanks to everyone who has providing recommendations for me, it has been very useful, even if I have been going back and forth considerably since posting 🤣

I think I am going to go with the recommendations of many here and purchase the Sigma 18-50mm and see how I get on with that first before considering other lenses in the future. I can see there will likely be a couple more purchases made in the future based on your responses.
