harry centric fics

looking for pov harry post war fics focusing on his depression and inner turmoil. just any fic where you can really feel and empathize with his inner monologue. bonus points if harry is somewhat reclusive and withdrawn and extra bonus points if draco is the opposite.

never mind the bollocks is my all time fav harry pov fic because of his awkwardness and narration. PLEASE rec me fics like this

the bolthole LOVED harry’s povs here too. wasn’t entirely harry centric but im such a sucker for depressed and reclusive harry

mr blue sky had a good angry reclusive harry and an extroverted put together draco

the way down was another good one

the boy from the piano shop had a lot of harry whump (with a happy ending!)

insane inner monologue draco

please please are there any POV draco fics where he’s completely composed and aloof on the outside but freaks out in hysterics internally? really enjoy when he has a huge personality contained to his inner thoughts

just looking for extremely entertaining draco narration

i think i first fell in love with this reading recursion‘s draco and his chronic overthinking. that boy was STRESSED

the fractured hourglass also had a pretty stressed out and opinionated draco. i feel like this comes with any type of time travel fix it cuz id be stressed out too if i knew a war was coming 😭

Soup-pocalypse and The Great Curry Cataclysm had a crazy narration whenever it was draco’s POV too iirc

stoic harry

looking for fics where harry is very stoic and quiet. preferably during adulthood, either post war or au. i just finished hell or high water and i absolutely loved harry’s quiet confidence and authority.

venari virtute was another fic i adored. loved how he was stoic and rude but so clearly hurting that draco couldn’t leave him alone in his self destruction

dwelling on dreams is my fav fic OAT and has the hottest harry ive ever read 🙂‍↕️

i guess there’s also a theme of authoritative harry with these fics so ill also take recs for that 😋

whiny, wimpy, cowardly draco

please rec me fics where draco’s just wimpy and pathetic please 🙏 think of him turning tail after hermione punched him in POA. give me a draco who’s a snarky asshole but shrinks back when stood up to. he is CANONICALLY PATHETIC and i am here for it!! he’s all bark no bite and i need to see him pushed around and his feathers ruffled

harry keeps seeking draco out

are there any good post war fics out there where draco tries to keep to himself working a menial job but harry keeps either seeking him out or running into him? currently in love with awkward reclusive draco and persistent erratic harry

something like blank space and a dubious affection please 🙏

oblivious draco!!

please please please are there any good oblivious draco recs out there? draco pining for harry, believing he would never reciprocate all while harry is very obviously and hopelessly flirting with him? draco suspicious of harry’s constant attempts to hang out?? draco misinterpreting harry’s banter as a continuation of their rivalry??? ALL OF ITT.

here are the best ones i’ve read:

flirt

a dubious affection

fight fire with fiendfyre

stupid love

shadow of sunshine

feather

every time that we meet, i skip a heartbeat

two trees

body and soul

you’ve got the antidote for me

the cat is in the bag

merlin, he’s not getting it

what are some of your drarry plot pet peeves?

what plot points in drarry stories really peeve you? i saw another pet peeve post a couple weeks ago but a new peeve got to me and i had to get it out

whenever a story (typically canon rewrites) gives too many events done by other people to draco, i feel like the author is trying to change his character too much. like making draco kill nagini, having him accompany harry to godrics hollow during the horcrux hunt, killing bellatrix, torturing him at the manor instead of hermione—things that flesh out OTHER important characters i dislike when they’re attributed to draco instead.

i enjoy when it’s just one or two things that change, but if it’s too many it starts to feel a bit self-inserty with the heroics. i read a fic where all of a sudden draco was super overpowered and he killed voldemort and all the death eaters at the battle. everybody was fawning over him like some dark superhero and it felt like the author just wanted an OC insert 😅

i’m not saying this should never happen—there’s a time and place (like boy-who-lived draco AUs and draco redemption fics), but when it’s untagged, it feels like draco is overshadowing harry in his own series and it kind of puts me off. i like when draco is redeemed in new ways that don’t diminish the depth of other characters, like him helping prisoners at the manor or protecting students from the carrows

good parent lucius malfoy

looking for fics where you can tell that lucius loves draco a lot and actually acts like a father. i want him to actively protect draco from the death eaters in the manor or from becoming one. i actually prefer when lucius is still a bad person/asshole, yet he never compromises draco’s wellbeing for his own gain.

most of the fics i’ve encountered with good parent lucius were too OOC for me (although good parent and OOC is already a thin line to straddle).

he wasn’t really a good parent in temptation on the war front but i appreciated the scenes where he would ward draco’s door from death eaters

and while the fractured hourglass explicitly has a bad parent lucius tag, i enjoyed the nuance in their conversations and believe he will improve as the series progresses

harry intimidates draco

are there any fics where draco is actually a bit afraid of harry? especially when harry gets angry and draco thinks he’s genuinely going to get hexed/beat up? i love a cowardly draco who can’t go toe to toe with real confrontation despite all his talk. he’s such an “all bark no bite” kind of guy to me

i feel like this pairs well with a magically powerful harry where the tension is a tangible thing

French Black family pet peeve

this is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things but i get quite irritated when fics portray the Black family as french to explain draco’s french roots. the MALFOYS are french and the blacks full-blooded brits. you’re telling me sirius is french?? cmon.

whenever post-war narcissa moves to france to stay with relatives i can’t imagine what relatives there would be unless they’re from lucius’ side.

i don’t doubt that their whole household including narcissa probably speaks french, but purely because it’s perceived as an aristocratic language. i hc the malfoys as like a third gen french family living in britain.

question about Mirror of Ecidyrue

i want to read The Mirror of Ecidyrue series, but as i scrolled through all the parts i got held up on the description of part 6 (Draco Black and the Prisoner of Nurmengard). the bio mentions theo calling draco a whore and him being the boy draco once loved. i want to confirm whether there’s untagged draco/theo in the series because that’s been putting me off

draco learning to text [@ashaoguant60501 on twt]

please are there any fics where draco gets a phone and is an atrocious texter. his texts are either littered with spelling errors or they’re overly formal like he’s writing a letter. bonus points if harry has to teach him how to use a phone

adventures in truth and texting

the very end of dwelling on dreams but it’s not significant

doses of dittany has a minor instance of harry not knowing how to use a phone

just have to throw in AITA for being "obsessed" with my childhood nemesis? for the sheer absurdity of draco lucius malfoy using reddit

animagus fics without identity reveal as the climax

in the majority of animagus fics i’ve read where A is an animagus and B is unaware, the climax of the fic is when B discovers A’s identity and A needs to grovel for forgiveness. while i love animagus fics of any kind, this same premise gets tiring and im looking for fics where the reveal is either early on or not a big deal.

secondhand jealousy

does anybody else experience second hand jealousy while reading fics that include past or minor relationships with other characters? like i get jealous on behalf of drarry cuz they’re very much otp to me. i have to filter out fics with minor relationships involving harry or draco cuz i can’t stomach it. i dislike even the mention of past relationships and it limits the amount of fics i can read 😭

i normally enjoy reading jealousy fics in other fandoms but with drarry i can’t cuz IM the one feeling jealous

codependent golden trio

very niche ask but i love when the golden trio stays thick as thieves post war.

i remember reading mr blue sky (https://archiveofourown.org/works/56907772/chapters/144701629) where molly thought they were a throuple cuz of how close they were and now i see a strong golden trio friendship as an essential.

i also loved how caring ron and hermione were of harry in the boy from the piano shop (https://archiveofourown.org/works/51376738/chapters/129826945).

awkward/neurotic draco

does anyone have any recs for a socially awkward, paranoid, or neurotic draco? or him just being a hot mess tbh. i feel like draco is usually portrayed as a smooth talker and harry is the more awkward one, so i find a draco unfamiliar with social norms refreshing.

i love when fics end with a drarry wedding in the epilogue, but i’ve only encountered it a handful of times. i remember first reading it in recursion by tessa crowley, and ive been hoping to come across similar epilogues ever since. any recs?

draco obsessed with harry

are there any fics out there where draco is the one obsessed with harry? or even mutual obsession is fine. fics where draco just knows a lot about harry and keeps tabs on him etc, preferably post-war and harry pov but im not picky.

i’ve just been reading a lot of harry obsessed with draco and have been wanting a change in dynamic
