Out of the Grey
Dull morning, dreary me,
late for work again, 9:22 AM.
Driving lights are on, but I am not.
The salty seaweed air mixes with the smell of a distant, unhappy skunk.
And I see you in the back of a convertible 90s Cadillac,
converted into a dusky red chariot,
driven out of the grey.
Your fingers twirling in the mist,
eyes fixed on the silver sky.
And your red lips smile as if to say, “Life is but a dream,”
and for a minute you reached into my world and made it so.
