I caught a couple panfish in my small community pond today in central Florida. Anyone have an idea what they could be? I was thinking maybe bluegill or redear but I’m pretty new to panfishing.
I was visiting some family in St. Cloud and decided to bring a pole and some artificials to try some freshwater. I lost the first few fish but the largemouth really loved the swimming mullets I had lol. I really wanna try fishing different freshwater species like gar and different catfish. Got 3 of these guys total, what a blast
I picked up some paddle tail mullets and jigs to try more soft plastics. I followed a YouTube tutorial for rigging this kind but I’m unsure how much the weight should be visible. Does this look correct? And can I pre rig these or should I wait until I hit the water?
Single hook replacement size for these lures?
Howdy everyone, I picked these up at Bass Pro today and I noticed most lures come with treble hooks attached. I wanted to replace them with single hooks because I hear they set more reliably. I fish the brackish inshore waters here in Florida and I’m mostly targeting Redfish and Snook. Should I get something similar to the size of the treble hooks on there? Are inline hooks my best option? And how would weedless hooks work on these? I’m fishing grassy flats a pretty good amount of the time. Also I generally prefer J hooks over circle hooks but I’m open to hearing what people recommend for these!
The lures I got are the Zara spook jr top water and a yo zuri dive weight. They’re both about 3 1/2 - 4in.
Finally caught my first red today out in Mosquito Lagoon 😁 I was having a super frustrating time with snags and was close to calling it quits when this hit. 27 inches, caught with a small pinfish.
Hey everyone, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately about people fishing with artificial lures, so I wanted to give them a try myself. I mostly fish the Indian River in Florida from docks and shorelines, and I’ve had the best luck using live shrimp and finger mullet, so I picked up some soft plastic shrimp and mullet-style baits to match what the fish here are already feeding on.
I’m still pretty new to artificials though, so I’d really appreciate some advice on how to fish them properly. I’m mainly wondering how fast I should be reeling them in, what kind of movement or action I should give them, whether I should work them near the bottom or higher in the water column, and what kind of rig setup would help them move naturally. Most of the fish around me are redfish, trout, snook, ladyfish, and catfish. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
