Kada “Meicha” Matcha

Tried the new “Meicha” variant from Kada Matcha and honestly, it surprised me a lot 😭

Their flavor profile says rich umami with no bitterness, but upon trying it at 75°C (4g matcha + 100g milk), the bitterness was actually pretty strong for me with slight astringency. Coming from sweeter, nutty-finish matchas like my Hoshi, this felt WAY bolder and more full-bodied. I think Hoshi’s flavor gets really mellowed down with milk. The umami and sweetness are still there, but I can’t really taste its nutty notes.

At first, I was shocked because I had to add more milk and sweetener than I usually do 😭 But once balanced properly, I started appreciating it more. The matcha flavor is very strong and really cuts through milk, which makes me think this would work SO well for creative drinks.

Compared to their older mixed cultivar variant, this one feels deeper, less light, and microfoams much better too. The old one was lighter, more astringent, and had only slight bitterness.

Will try to do more creative drinks with her.

Do you guys use temperature controlled kettle?

I upgraded my scale na (it can’t detect my matcha powder kasi) and now I am contemplating whether to buy a temperature controlled kettle or tansyahin ko na lang the water temperature.

What I did is pinapalamig ko siya muna (still hot but I can still dip my finger). But di consistent since tansyahan nga lang ginagawa ko😭.

What do you guys do sa mga walang kettle.

What’s your everyday matcha?

I am loving capi hoshi rn but 20 pesos per gram is a bit too much for me. Now I’m looking for alternatives—nutty, sweet, and has umami. Slight bitterness is okay and please no astringency.

Preferably 15 pesos per gram para di nakaka pang hinayang ipang everydayy HAHAHAHA.

Thank you so much guys!

I’m so grateful that I found this community and discovered a reason to wake up excited every morning. Words honestly can’t describe how happy I feel every time I open Reddit and immediately head to our subreddit.

Everyone here is so kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful with every question—no one gatekeeps, and that’s something I truly appreciate. Kahit sobrang nakakaubos ng laman ng bank account dahil sa mga budol, every single one was worth it. 😭💚

I started making matcha back during the pandemic, and I swear the quality I had to endure back then was… rough. But looking at myself now, I can really see how much I’ve improved, especially with my whisking and overall appreciation for matcha.

I took all of your suggestions to heart, and I’m genuinely thankful for everything I’ve learned from this community. Hoping we can continue to share more discoveries, recommendations, and budols together. 🫶

Thank you so much, guys!

How to store your 6 L Milk

The title says it, how do you store po when you buy 6 pcs of 1L milk? I roughly use 1L on 1-2 weeks. Ehh lately ang hirap bumili ng milk palaging out of stock so I am planning to buy bulk na.

Or should I stick to buying 2 pcs of 1L na lang?

Is this silica food grade?

I bought po kasi to, can I use this po on my matcha tin?

u/takoyarei — 14 days ago

Hi guys, how do you clean your tin cans? Mine has rust na even thought 2 months pa lang siya :(((.

Should I wash it with water or wipe the powder residue with tissue na lang? Idk how I can clean it to pour my next powderr.

I got mine 2 months ago and may ilang putol na, because I tried achieving microfoam sa matcha powder na di nag microfoam.

And also when I first used it lumalasa siya sa powder ko but after mga 3 cups wala naman na.

I’ve been contemplating if I can finish 100g within 1-2 months. Since I can finish 50g naman within a month. Soo now I bought 80g of Capi! I hope I will love it so I can commit na sa 120g (if I can finish 80g naman within a month or two). I’ll just transfer the 80g in my can and set aside the remaining grams and will transfer jt na lang.

How about you guys, how long can you finish 100g or 120g? Do you finish it within the 1-2 month period ?

I have the exact tin, how much can I store kaya. Balak ko sana bumili 80g or 120g.

The powder I want to repurchase is still sold out on japanmatchaph. Please recommend nutty matcha powder with no bitternes and astringency (below 1k) that's on hand😭.

Is anyone here selling repackaged MK matcha powder? I can’t finish 100g kasi in a month or two kaya I’m opting for 50g or 40g pouches. I don’t wanna buy tin cans since I have my own naman na (to avoid waste din).

If you’re selling, please lmk the price!
