Charlotte and the Seven Frat Brothers

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt35664774/?ref_=wh_t_8

App: CandyJar

FL: Bella Walker

ML: Jesse Katz

Teaser: When Charlotte's piss-poor planning lands her in a frat house instead of a dorm, things get interesting fast. Anyone who knows college-Greek rules knows girls don't live in frat houses. There are parties upon parties and of course rivalries. Also, many a shirtless morning in the kitchen. Charlotte and Chase (frat pres) are drawn to each other even though they're not supposed to be. (trying to avoid spoilers, so that's all, folks)

Award for best supporting actor goes to... Jacob Flores as Darren.

Missed With the Wrong Nerd

*ETA: Title is "*You Messed with the Wrong Nerd"

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I'm hoping constructive criticism and open dialogue are good enough. Maybe it'll also help someone somehow.

Starting with the positives, the acting is solid. People who are negging Evan's performance are misguided IMO. I've seen people say he's just not a good actor but I don't remember seeing him in other series. I usually remember actors I don't like (by face at least).

Anyway, I got Batman movie villain from his performance, and at the beginning of the movie, that fit. The whole cast had a little bit of that 90s-2000s Batman movie vibe. Then, they all started slipping more into the typical melodramatic telenovela + vertical style. Whose fault is it at that point? I'd say it's the director's.

The director is meant to keep performances consistent with the vision of the movie. IF the director deliberately changed course mid-movie, it's up to them to rein the actors in toward the new vision.

The movie started campy, and that's great for many people. It's a vibe they could have stuck with throughout the entirety of the run, but didn't. That inconsistency is what lead to bad reviews in my opinion. The people who like camp would love it and the ones who don't would have just skipped it.

Anyway, what do you lot think?

CandyJar TV is Just Worth It

It's the only platform I've found so far that's making out of the ordinary/minimally tropey verticals consistently. I love the check-tearing, drink-tossing slapfests, but sometimes I want more substance. I first saw Luna Graced and Private Lessons from outside the app. I knew I had to check the whole catalog.

I can't say these are my top 5 because I'm indecisive, but here are 5 I really, really loved:

  1. Boardroom Attraction
  2. Rooming with the Devil
  3. Jekyll & Hyde
  4. My Sister's Wedding
  5. Falling for My Bodyguard

I left out Luna Graced and Private Lessons just to not be redundant.
RECCOMMENDATIONS WELCOMED!
