Any musicians get excited at the new book?

There’s not a tag for A Darker Shore yet so hopefully this will suffice. I don’t play the flute but the minute I turned the page to the sheet music I RAN to my clarinet and attempted to make it work. Very pretty song and it worked out okay. Or I’m sure it would be if played by someone who didn’t pick up their clarinet for the first time in literal years. Came back easier than expected, though, I gotta say. My brother has a keyboard but not a piano so if anyone knows if we can make that work, lmk. Might actually get back into playing because of this haha

Anyone know where I can find this shirt?

I’ve been wanting this shirt since last year and was planning on getting it Opening Weekend but they didn’t have my size. Came back this week and it’s gone except one small shirt I found yesterday (I’m a size large). Does anyone know if there’s one floating around somewhere? Or know if it’ll be back in stock? I asked the attendant at the snoopy store but she didn’t know. I have the similar purple one for Michigan’s Adventure and was hoping for this one for Cedar Point

Teacher Kept My Kids Out For Recess

Minor rant cuz it’s fine but a little annoying. My kids left for lunch at 12:40pm and were meant to return from recess at 1:20pm but the principal decided to keep them outside longer for recess. It’s now 1:50pm and they’re still outside and I have no idea when they’re returning. I wasn’t even told until 10 minutes after they were supposed to be back. On the one hand, I’m happy for my kids. They’ve been good all day and it’s Friday and a lovely day so I think they deserve some fun. But on the other hand, this completely throws off our schedule and I don’t love it when schedules change suddenly without my control. They’re just doing packet work but they also have a special at the end of the day and IXL work to do and now they’re just not going to have any time to finish the packets. I really like being able to have the kids finish all their work but at least it isn’t my fault. Now I just gotta sit and wait here for them to come back when I wouldn’t have minded going out with them. I guess I still can but I have no idea when she was planning on returning them. I just wish I would’ve been consulted about this :/ no biggie but it is my last day subbing this year and I was really enjoying my kids and was even planning on giving them a special reward later but now it feels like on top of this it’s too much. Oh well I guess

Last Minute Field Trip Chaperone

God this job is so funny. Came in today to sub for 6th graders (a chaotic class but one I love) and got pulled aside to ask if I’d rather switch to 1st grade. I panicked thinking this was required and not a question but they were really cool with me saying I’d rather stay with my 6th grade class. Read through my plans, went to pick up my kids from outside, and was midway through attendance when a support staff guy I know came in and said they needed a female chaperone for this middle school youth summit and asked if I could come and the dean would take over my class. I’ve never subbed a field trip before but was like “sure why not?” and now 20 minutes later I’m on a school bus with no idea where I’m headed with no idea what I’m meant to do with like 16 kids and a support staff guy and no actual teachers. I’m autistic and usually don’t do well with last minute schedule changes but boy does this job make you. Hopefully today goes well. I’m really just laughing at this whole situation. And it was nice cuz my students were begging me not to go on the field trip cuz they wanted me to sub for them which was nice. Fingers crossed I don’t lose a student lol

Update: Field trip is over. It was a conference so they were scattered into different groups for two sessions so I just found a room to hang out in for each session. Extremely boring but I got free lunch, a free t-shirt, and a bunch of free (if useless) swag from the organization. No children lost and now we head back to probably take back over the class I was meant to sub so I can hang out with them for a bit. Not a bad way to spend the day.

Got to my school today and went in knowing they were probably going to have me cover prep cuz they did yesterday and they do a lot so I braced myself and was still left disappointed because not only am I covering prep, I’m covering GYM. I don’t mind subbing gym generally but this school is HUGE physically and most of their classrooms, including mine today, are on the 3rd floor while the gym is on the ground floor (not the 1st) and I have gotten lost trying to find it in the past. So I was told that during my five minute passing period, I have to go get the sub binder for this class from his first period room upstairs, then go all the way down to the gym, cover that class, then five minutes to go all the way back upstairs to finish out my day. And no prep on top of that, which, whatever. It’s the job and I have a three day weekend after this because I’m going to Cedar Point’s opening weekend (yay).

Anyways, I go up to my classroom (which is mislabeled for some weird reason) and talk to the neighbor across the hall and the teacher I’m subbing for and find out she doesn’t actually need me until the afternoon, which she TOLD the office and they never bothered to say anything to me. But the teacher next door was running late so I watched her class for the first 10 minutes and then did the whole grab the binder and go down to the gym thing. I checked in at the office after dropping off my stuff and let them know the situation and they told me they had everything covered for the day so outside 2nd hour, I got nothing to do this morning. Decided to wander for the rest of 1st hour because, again, this building is quite large and there’s a lot of parts I haven’t seen yet despite subbing for a year here. 3rd hour I’ll head back up and see if anyone needs help. Maybe offer to do some busywork. So started off mildly annoyed at my packed schedule and ended with me begging for work to do lol. This job really keeps you on your toes and I kinda love it actually. Similarly to how McDonald’s is the best first job purely because nothing else will ever be as bad, nothing will ever phase me after working this one

Edit: I’m now in 3rd hour and they don’t have anything for me so the teacher literally told me to sit in the back and chill. It’s AP, so I’m currently watching them talk about her fat dog (with pictures). Nothing like an AP class in May. Now I get to read my book. What a day lol

I’ve worked in this district for this particular school for a year now and this has been driving me crazy and I decided to finally post about it. I think someone who speaks a foreign language and not a bit of English input it and no one has bothered to fix it. I laugh about it every time I pick up a Spanish class job at this school
