Next coaster to try for 6-8 year olds

My kids are very tall so we’ve been doing coasters since they were 5. I could use advice about what to try next when we go back later this summer. I don’t want to advance too quickly but I’m itching to go on bigger rides. Two of the three kids should hit 54 inches by then.

Last year we did Iron Dragon & Gemini as their first ever coasters. This year we repeated those and added Blue Streak, Pipe Scream, and Wild Mouse. Mine Ride was down both times we visited. We’ve also done cedar downs, Matterhorn, Ocean Motion, most of the boardwalk rides, and the snoopy coaster.

Would Raptor be good for the next choice? Sky Hawk? Something else?

Trying to build the love of coasters in them without pushing too far. So far they have loved everything we’ve ridden and seemed most scared on the Gemini.

Rides with tight seatbelts?

Hi! Looking to visit sometime this summer and was wondering if any rides (besides the infamous Millennium Force) would have seatbelts or seats that would be hard to fit in.

Thanks!

Monday, July 6th

I UNDERSTAND this may get flagged, but I seriously need help with deciding before the day of.
This is the weather forecasted as of now for tomorrow. I spent a lot of money for my boyfriend and I to go (fast pass plus) and if the weather is going to really affect our day I want to reschedule, I just don’t know what choice to make.
I have to call guest services to reschedule our fast pass date, and I HAVE to do it today.
I am asking this forum in the hopes people who frequent CP more than I do will have some experience with weather forecasts like this, considering how unpredictable it can be.
DO WE TAKE THE RISK OR NOT?

Top Thrill 2 + Fireworks

I’ve been going to cedar point literally my whole life, so I really just had to share this experience because having been there so much, I feel like there aren’t too many standout experiences for me anymore.

That being said, my brother and I decided to head to CP tonight literally at like 6 pm because we saw how dead it was. My brother hadn’t been since 2024 and unfortunately couldn’t join the family for pass previews for TT2. I also hadn’t been since 2024 and only rode TT2 once. We were a bit concerned when we saw a decent line with only two trains, it ended up breaking down twice, but we lucked out with back row, and during the fireworks show.

It was legitimately one of the most beautiful sights and experiences of my life. Goddamn I loved my first and only ride so much on TT2, but I was absolutely blown out of the water with this ride. The backwards launch is one of the most diabolical things I’ve ever experienced on a ride. Cresting the spike and being able to see the fireworks in my peripheral vision was just insane. Not to mention the drop off the spike lasts forever omg. The fireworks show was in the grand finale and my god cresting the top of the hill and just seeing all of the colors, rides, literally just so fucking beautiful. Not to mention the reflection on the lake and all of the fireworks being launched around Sandusky + greater area.

Just had to share, but truly one of the most incredible and most memorable rides I’ve had in SO long.

Iron Dragon Roll Back

I stood waiting to get into the station for TT2 and heard a terrible sound of metal clanking against metal. Looked up, and saw Iron Dragon moving in the wrong direction down it's second lift hill. Anti-roll back eventually did its thing? As the train started making its way back up the lift. To my surprise, after it cleared the 2nd hill, another train was already clearing the first lift. Could have sworn Ryan the ride mechanic had once said rides will fault if it takes longer to complete a cycle.Told my wife, who rode it while we were in line for TT2, and she thought it was struggling to go up the second lift hill compared to earlier this morning.

Anyone hear of this happening in the past? The ride ops at TT2 were surprised but just continued on focusing on their own ride.

Have the line wait estimates been wildly wrong this season?

I was there last Sunday/Monday and noticed both days that rides in the app and on their respective signs were regularly estimating much longer times than reality. Obviously this is better than being wrong in the other direction but still not ideal. Never had this problem over the last few years at the park.

Is this a thing or did I just catch them on a weird couple days?

Conquered my Fear of Roller Coasters today… Sorta

I just have to share this because I still can’t believe I did it.

I’m terrified of heights and, before today, the only roller coasters I’d ever ridden at Cedar Point were Blue Streak and Mine Ride. Last time I’ve been to Cedar Point I was 15 and now I’m almost 28. I bought a Silver Pass because I wanted to conquer one of my biggest fears this year.

I went to meet up with some corkers and their family along with my mom. My mom and I rode Sky Ride first which honestly made me a little nervous at first as I haven’t been on it in years. 😅

My coworkers didn’t think I’d ride anything because I said I don’t like riding coasters unless I know someone. 😂 They kept hyping me up and, after a lot of internal panic, I rode Raptor… in the FRONT ROW.

I screamed the entire ride. They were laughing because they could hear me the whole time. Needless to say, they were proud that I did something that was out of my comfort zone.

Then, they somehow convinced me to ride Steel Vengeance. I stood there staring at how tall and fast it was, and they jokingly tried to tell me it was shorter than Raptor. I knew they were lying. I hated every second of Steel Vengeance 😂. My neck was whipping around, I felt like I was dropping forever, and I screamed nonstop.

Then, somehow, I rode Maverick, which actually ended up being my favorite of the three. To top it all off, I rode Iron Dragon by myself on the way out. Earlier in the day I was convinced I couldn’t ride without someone I knew, so that felt like a huge personal win. By the end of the day, I was exhausted from the heat, but I’m still so proud of myself.
I may never ride Steel Vengeance again 😂, and Millennium Force and Top Thrill 2 are still a hard no for now, but I accomplished exactly what I wanted: a fear of tall roller coasters/heights. Well, for the most part.

I still can’t believe I was over 200 feet in the air today.

4 of the Wildest CP Days I've Had

Wow! Drove down from West Michigan Tuesday night and just left the park a couple hours ago and this was unlike any other Cedar Point trip I've had in my 30+ years coming here.

The heat: heat index was 100+ non-stop peaking out at 110+ at moments. You step outside and INSTANTLY just started dripping. Combat consisted of ice inside of our hats, multiples shows at Lusty Lils, always eating inside, and some water park breaks. Even with all of that, we got everything we wanted multiple times over from the park.

The rides: The flip side of the absolutely brutal heat was few people were as stupid as we were to venture out. We popped in the park for just one ride after driving in Tuesday night and waited an hour for TT2 which was 3x as long as we waited for anything else in the main park for the remaining three days. Lost count over the 3.5 days, but hit every coaster multiple times. Sirens Curse and TT2 three times each, more Millie and SteVe than I can count and walked on to the front row of the others over and over. All of this while marathoning Iron Dragon, Mine Ride, and countless other small rides with the kiddos.

The Water Park: popped in for about 2 hours Wednesday and it was a zoo mid day. Tried to open the day slower Thursday and start with the water park at 11:00. Got there at 10:30 and it was still pretty crazy. Waited 45 min for the big family tube slide and it was probably hour and half line by the time we got off. Did the "crazy" river for a while. And I brought the littlest back into the main park while my wife and oldest stayed and did the wave pool and dump bucket for a while.

Overall: It was just an all around bizarre trip. On one hand it was miserable. The kids were troopers but my goodness was that heat ridiculous. On the other hand it was a coaster riders dream. Thursday I dropped everyone back at the cabin as they were done and needed some AC and stupid ole me went back in! But in 3.5 hours I never waited more than 15 minutes for ANYTHING. Granted, I did get two fast pass rides for TT2 that someone gave me, but even the main line was 25 minutes. If you could bear the heat it was a coaster fans dream.

I'm guessing this will go down as one of my most memorable CP trips of all time. Now it's on to Kings Island next week. The Summer of the Coaster continues.

Any steel vengeance ride ops here?

I’m wondering how much faster the ride was running yesterday? The first half was so fast. Midcourse hit hard and then still made it up and more by the end. The one op I spoke to said that it says on the computer but didn’t get to ask him about it again after he went in the booth for his rotation.

Cedar Point constantly dissappoints

I've done two separate trips with my family now, and I have to say they have to get their act together.

The rides are top notch *when* operating.

We got there early to get on sirens curse, got in line, and it was shut down....5 minutes after the park opened. After waiting 20 minutes, we left the line and ran to TT2, which had a 15 minute wait. The ride broke down twice while in line and waited 45 to finally ride it. (Still not a long wait considering, but the park wasn't busy...can't imagine what it's like when the expected wait is longer).

Went to steel vengeance and basically walked on! Got stuck halfway through on the ride for 20 minutes in 95° sun. My 10 yr old son was scared and worried. The worker laughed at how sweaty we were when we got off. We did get a free line skip pass though.

Walked to millennium Force and the line was closed for maintenance. Came back later and the ride shut down for 15 minutes when we were next in line to get on.

All but two roller coasters broke down while in line or on the ride.

I've seen others complain about this and people make excuses for the park. I can say, this is only an issue here. We have been going to kings Island for 4 years....no ride has ever shut down ever (as unbelievable that may be).

The workers are also just generally less friendly and unhelpful. There are some great workers, not saying it's everyone. But one worker on TT2 was doing tictok dances and was disinterested. Another worker didn't know what the line skip pass was when we tried to use it on the Maverick. Another was irritated with me when I asked how the meal plan we purchased ahead of time worked.

This has the potential to be a great park, but at every turn, we were being disappointed.

As I said, this was our second trip. We came 3 years ago and had a very similar experience, except the line break downs was worse this year.

Will I be able to ride anything?

Hi all, looking for advice. I love theme parks but I am extremely prone to motion sickness and I have gotten day ruiningly sick on a couple roller coasters.

I’m planning a trip to the area with my brother and I’m wondering if there’s enough non roller coasters to have a fun day at the park?

For context I got very sick on both Space Mountain and Cosmic Rewind at Disney, but did fine on DK’s Mine Cart at Epic Universe. Going to start pushing myself on other lower intensity stuff at WDW and Epic this year.

Anything that spins is probably out. Anything with a lot of side g-forces as well. Any advice on what I could ride at Cedar Point? Worth it to spend a day there?

Adding Kings Island to my Cedar Point Trip?

Hi!

My friend and I are planning a 2 day visit to Cedar Point from Chicago during the first week of August (Wednesday + Thursday). This will be our 2nd time visiting after an incredibly rushed 1-day visit last year. We plan on staying at the Express Hotel to take advantage of Early Entry.

I recently convinced him to get the Gold Pass and I was thinking of adding an extra day to visit KI for the first time since it’s the same distance from Chicago.

I was thinking of adding KI like this:

Day 1: Drive 4.5 hours from Chicago to KI -> arrive around 1pm -> stay until close -> sleep in Mason

Day 2: Drive 3-3.5 hours to Cedar Point -> arrive around 1pm -> stay until close -> sleep at Express Hotel

Day 3: Early Entry at 9am -> stay until 4pm -> drive 4.5 hours to Chicago

Compared to Cedar Point, is a visit to Kings Island worth it to bring up to my friend?  Also, does this rough plan seem a bit too rushed? We’ll probably buy 1 or 2 Single Use Fast Lanes at both parks to save time. Is 3 days a feasible plan to visit both parks?

Thank you :)

Spotted from Airplane

Cedar Point always felt so huge on the ground. Fun seeing it from 30k feet. Recognized it immediately.

Ride and Park Shirts Online?

We just finished a trip up from Virginia and I was prepping my 9 year old to pick out a shirt he wanted for us to get on our way out. As we were leaving the park on Thursday we went to the Steel Vengeance shop for one of two shirts he narrowed it down to and they closed for the day because of heat.

My son was pretty sad that we didn't get the shirt and I told him I would scour the Internet for them. So far I've been unable to.

The two shirts in question are the 2-player Siren's Curse vs Steel Vengeance retro video game one and the Steel Vengeance white shirt with the coaster track in the middle, the bandit guy at the top, and three other people at the bottom.

I've checked the Six Flags merch site, GV Art site, and Homage. Those have good options, but not the two I'm looking for.

Any thoughts on where I can look?

CP gold pass: Parking at KI and other midwest parks

Does my gold pass that is good at all Midwest parks get me free parking at the parks I visit? CP is my home park. Thanks !

Rides I haven’t been on at Cedar Point.

I was thinking about all the rides at Cedar Point that I haven’t been on and I think that I haven’t been on the majority of rides there.

Rides I haven’t done:

- Ferris wheel (solo park goer)
- pirate ship
- carousel
- antique cars
- Lake Erie Eagles
- bumper cars
- scrambler
- wilderness run
- Woodstock express
- all of the kiddie rides
- slingshot (does it count?)

Not that any of this is important, just my musings. I would think that with all the kids rides included, I’ve been on less than half the rides in the park!

Cancelled July 3rd

My fiancé planned for us to go to Cedar Point for our first visit tomorrow Friday July 3rd because we’re both off work. We were going to get Fast Lane passes but were kind of horrified at the price. Then I started having anxiety about how crowded the park will likely be, fast lane seems too expensive and was the basic one and wouldn’t include the rides we’re most interested in. But now that it’s tomorrow I’m regretting not just going and enjoying what we could. We live in Cincinnati so it’s a decent drive. I guess I’m just looking for feedback that my anxiety was justified, is it probably going to be crazy busy July 3rd?
