6 days ago, I sold my first digital product!

I am a passionate creator within the weather niche, and 6 days ago I sold my first digital product. I poured my heart, soul, and effort into The Radar Cheat Sheet — a quick-reference guide into reading and understanding weather radar like a pro! I spent a lot of time meticulously designing this cheat sheet, as well as finding public domain images to include within it to help anyone and everyone understand how to read weather radar. I’m not trying to get more sales, I just wanted to share this milestone with someone, anyone!

I have been working so hard to build a community within my niche that leads with facts, and prioritize weather safety. I’m not asking for anything, I just didn’t know where else to share this! It was a complete surprise when I came back from vacation. If anyone has any feedback based on my niche, or even any suggestions education wise, I am an open book! My goal is to lead with facts and prioritize safety in regards to weather education! I finally did it, I made my first sale! 🥺🥹😭🌪️

Meaningful Questions

Hey everyone, I hope it’s okay to post this here. I want to hear from all of you here in this subreddit. I am a lifelong weather enthusiast here in OKC and I am currently in the process of going back to school for meteorology within the next couple years. For context, I am not here to sell to anyone. Full transparency, I have created and I am continuing to create meaningful resources for weather safety and education.

I personally believe that people with weather anxiety are often overlooked, or told they are overreacting and that is a completely unfair with respects to what people go through in traumatic events. So while I continue to grow and expand in this niche, I want to make sure that anything I create keeps this particular group of people in mind. Most specifically educational resources to help reduce fear and anxiety.

If you’ve read this far, I would love your feedback on what specific topics you would want more education on and if you feel that knowledge around that topic or topics could help reduce your anxiety. This could be anything from understanding what the colors on the radar mean, understanding the radar itself, understanding what technical forecasts mean, or really anything. No topic is too small or off-limits. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing publicly, you are more than welcome to message me privately. Thank you.

Best OCR Option for Editing NotebookLM Slides?

I have created some fantastic slide decks in NotebookLM. I am very familiar with how to use it and edit within the studio, but I don’t necessarily want to generate an all new deck each time I edit something. There are a few slides where I would like to completely change the structure but tools like Canva leave behind digital artifacts and images are fully embedded so removing the background is not an option.

What PDF to PPT converters work best for this type of editing? So far, Adobe Acrobat seems to be the clear winner. I would love to use DeckEdit but my laptop is a few years old and cannot handle the local workload, so the converter would need to be cloud based.

TWISTEX Memorial 2026

In the weather community, I’m a nobody. And lately, with all of the toxicity and the finger pointing, I’m glad that I’m a nobody. But these men — these men were somebody, and they were somebody I did and still do respect deeply.

Last year, I made it a point to go to the TWISTEX memorial for the first time. To be honest, I had imposter syndrome. I haven’t made a difference like these men have. I don’t have the accolades and the education they do. Inversely, I feel that you don’t have to know someone to know the impact they made and how important their contributions were — and that the above should not hinder you to pay your respects.

A few days before I visited the memorial last year, I made it a point to leave something personal. Something that represents me and who I am, but also something that represents the three of them. So I scrounged up three Fedex carabiners: one for Tim, one for Paul, and one for Carl. (Photos 1 & 2 in 2025)

When I arrived at the memorial, I was completely alone, and I took a moment to take it in. Trying to fathom the 2.6 mile wide gargantuan that took these men from this world. Trying to fathom how deeply this loss is felt each and every day by the people that know and love them. And so I quietly took a moment to take it all in, and then I decided to take a video to share it with the world. And I did so in the hopes of keeping their memories alive, not for likes or clicks or views.

One year later, I came back as promised. Throughout the year, I had wondered what became of the small gifts I left behind. And to my surprise and deep joy, I found that my clips were used to keep hats and mementos in place at the memorial (Photos 3 & 4). In the weather community, I am a nobody, but it brought me pure joy to see my gifts contributing to something, no matter how small.

Over the last couple months, I have taken steps to educate myself further and dedicated my time to creating my own website and Substack that covers historical weather events, tornadoes, and severe weather education. And these men are just one piece of the puzzle that makes up the reason why I have decided to go back to school for meteorology in the next couple of years. So I am posting the fifth and final photo humbly, and I want to say Rest in Peace to the men who helped inspire weather kids like me. 🌪️

RaXPol is no longer Public Domain?

As an Okie, tornadoes are extremely near and dear to my heart. I am in the process of finalizing a list of sources for a comprehensive case study as well as a deep dive into the 2013 El Reno tornado. The 13th anniversary is on May 31st, as most of you already know. Whilst I was cleaning up my sources list and double checking my attributions were correct, I came across this message on Wikimedia Commons. This specific source is the collection of RaXPol radar images that were recorded in real time at close range under the direction of the legendary Dr. Howard Bluestein while he was still at OU. These images have been in what is effectively the “public domain” for quite some time. Now I’m not sure what to do, or how to properly categorize or site this image. Any help or advice??
