Irregular bleeding/spotting - 9 months w/ Kyleena
So I got my Kyleena IUD last August while I was on my period and the first couple of weeks were painful but the pain started to diminish. It took some weeks until it completely stopped bleeding altogether (it was heavy at first but then spotting on and off for +6 weeks) then it got a bit more regular but almost the same, I have my regular period, and have spotting for 2 more weeks so I’m not bleeding for only one week every month. It’s annoying. I’ve also gained 5 kg on it which is not going away even though I track my calories and workout regularly.
In January I had some pain during sex and cramps and bloating and checked with my doctor and she said it’s a cyst - common with hormonal IUDs and she prescribed some meds and it got better and said my IUD is still adjusting and adapting to my body. But in a few months we can check again. I do enjoy the fact that I can have sex without being worried about pregnancy but the bleeding and being bloated in my belly and the weight I’ve gained do not sit well with me. I’ve heard people saying they stopped getting their periods after their IUD but I’m spotting all the time.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I’m thinking of waiting for a full year and then deciding if I want it or not.
