Miscommunication? Very frustrating.
Hey guys, I wanted some input on why this happened to me at a Biolife location near me. Last year, I tried to donate and was told I needed a medical clearance to be able to donate because I had P.O.T.S when I was 12-14 (I am 22 now and was 21 at the time). I quite literally had no health insurance or food in my pantry at the time which was why I was trying to donate so this was stressful for me but I fully understood. I finally got medical clearance and just last week went in to grab the form I needed (I had lost my previous one). I was then informed that I had actually been permanently deferred from that first visit. I honestly got angry because they told me there was nothing they could do and they weren't explaining why exactly I had been told to get a medical clearance. I am so frustrated and defeated. I am a college student living by myself and I am struggling to pay bills. I just wanted a reliable side hustle that would also do some good in the world. I went through that whole process for what? And I dont even have P.O.T.S anymore! My cardiologist verified that with me! The guy I spoke to was slightly demeaning and tried to compare it to lupus, saying that just because a lupus patient is asymptomatic doesnt mean they can donate. However, the difference is that I quite literally am not sick anymore while lupus is incurable! I called in to try and get a second opinion from someone and they said they would call back in a week but I have not recieved that call back either :/ Am I crazy for being genuinely upset? Why was I sent on a goose chase for no reason?? Can I go to another donation center instead?
