Is Brook Trout fishing ruined for me?

Is Brook Trout fishing ruined for me?

Caught this almost 18” in a spot I discovered through hard work and ice-cold river walking, and proceeded to catch 8 in 3 days (5 hours total) along the stretch, with the others being 2x15”, 1x14”, 2x11” and 2x10”.

Will I ever catch any this big again? I didn’t want to leave, they were insanely rewarding

My parents’ front garden is so luscious after a cold Canadian winter 🥹

By far the greenest garden in the neighbourhood so far this spring. The plants that they grow in it just thrive so well, I am glad they’re willing to share some with us and other neighbours each spring. It takes the drab brown canvas and invade it with wonderful foreign plant that smells great once it flowers!

After all these years, I just discovered that there’s a non-studio version of “Past Due” in the wild

Had no clue this song appeared on a compilation album from 2002, one year before the studio version was released as “[Past-Due]”/“(Past-Due)”. Definitely a different vibe to the song as it uses just acoustic guitar and keys, no drums or bells involved. Very chill, I’m glad to have found this version to accompany the one I’ve been listening to for two decades 😅

Also on Spotify, (where artists make less than half for the same work): https://open.spotify.com/track/48AEtWpND6x0cTOhXecqkq?si=faDtMglvSP-3A7R1NUGQpQ

Tips for early season Lakers on Cedar Lake (Brent)?

My dad is great at many things, and trolling for lakers in our little 16 foot boat with no flasher and catching nothing is one of those things. I’m not quite as patient as he is (1 fish in 3-5 hours is tough when it’s 10° and windy), so I’m coming here hoping some of you might have some sage advice on techniques that work for you. Not looking for your honey hole (or honey path?), just general guidance to either affirm that we’re doing all we can, or to change our methods. Right now it’s using spoons and raps that go ~20-30’ down, trolling behind us, on the edges where it goes from 60 up to 30 feet or so, back and forth over that kind of line.

Super appreciate any advice, I’m still waiting for my first laker with wind-shorn hands after several may long weekends trying to make it happen.
