Building a macOS native GUI for Apple Container

i don't know if this is of interest to anyone, as i'm really just building it for myself, but i figured i'd open it up for anyone who wants to use it or contribute.

hopefully i don't get downvoted into oblivion for using ai, but if i'm being totally honest, i'm lazy. i have zero intention of making money from this. it's just a fun side project that fills a gap in my own homelab and lets me move away from docker since everything i run is on a mac anyway.

i've mainly been focused on the ui/ux. it's pretty minimal at the moment because i wanted to get all the features working first, but i'd say it's basically feature complete. my focus now is hunting down edge cases and bugs, then manually going through every view to add specific visual polish and little quality of life improvements that make everything feel finished.

if you do decide to use it, just keep in mind it's probably going to have issues. ai isn't perfect, and neither am i. if you run into bugs, weird behaviour, or have ideas for improvements, feel free to open an issue or contribute.

Railen looks nice.. but why didn't they mention the component delivery system?

I love the look of Gatac in general.. but the component delivery system was one of my biggest reasons for buying it; to make soloing a little easier in a bigger ship? Why didn't they mention it in ISC? Was it cut? I understand it's a concept and things can change, but were backers ever told a core mechanic of this ship was cut? I don't recall such news ever being shared..

Small rundown for those that forgot and don't want to click the link below, is it was intended to fetch smaller components only, not larger ones. which will be very useful when you're running solo and need to make a quick repair before things get worse (as in the final implementation of engineering, we wont be replacing them via mobiglas, it'll be by hand)

Link to direct mention of it: https://youtu.be/c-szHTzIRGI?si=cXAi-0_G084NDZLT&t=387

Edit: idk why i'm getting downvoted, all i'm saying is we should of at least be informed. While most might not consider it a core feature, it was one of the reasons i supported the concept so it is that to me. For context i'm mostly a solo player, and access to smaller components quicker from the bridge was an important thing for me as i'm limited by the size of the ships i can realistically run solo

Final note: i'm not saying it was promised, or that they cant change things during concept, i fully understand what i spent my money on. it just would of been nice to get a heads-up if it was cut 🤷‍♂️
