I live in Florida in a home that is perfectly lined up to receive full sun all day from dawn to dusk. So my question is whether, or not it is worth the headache/expense to install whole house solar?

OK, so I know that this may be an insane idea, but humor me for a moment. If I was 100% certain that there was no metal in it, could I use the wood that I know to be untreated oak that came from a pallet to smoke meat? I'm sure it isn't treated, and I would saw out the attachment joints, plus I have a metal detector to make doubly certain.

I haven't done anything like this, but the idea hit me yesterday when I was relocating my offset smoker and I had to move the pallets.

Crazy? I can take it if you say it is, but ...
