Magic lasso as a cutting wire

The lasso is already infinitely long depending on the will of its wielder, I don't see why it couldn't be infinitely thick or thin as well. And since it is infinitely strong too that means the lasso would make the perfect cutting wire for just about anything.

It is a little cruel to use it like this I guess, but I don't think it's all that much worse than a sword. Plus it just makes sense. This way, Diana wouldn't need to leave her most powerful and iconic weapon idle at her hip when going up against villains that warrant a cutting blade.

On the other hand... maybe it'd be interesting to lean into the irony of turning a weapon meant to avoid bloodshed into something which excels at doing exactly that. Say on of the villains obtains the lasso, and they innovate a new usage for it?

The way the Diana uses a cutting lasso doesn't have to look the same as how her villain uses it either. Someone like Circe might favor turning the lasso into spiderweb trap that cuts (or maybe even dismembers) anyone who walks into it, but Diana might prefer to alternate the lasso's width to maneuver and cut as-needed within the battle, looking much more like a ribbon dancer than a spider.

The boots

(Image is June Byers and Nell Stewart.)

Came across some old photos of female wrestlers and noticed the design of their boots looked a bit similar to Diana’s. The cut of their leotard is also kinda similar to golden age Wonder Woman. It would be pretty cool to see a Wonder Woman costume design based on 40’s and 50’s women’s pro wrestling. Maybe even an elseworlds?

As a ritual which combines sportsmanship with a performance of dominance and defeat I feel like pro wrestling is such a good fit for Marston’s original vision and the kinds of ritual games the Amazons play. The idea of sportsmanship itself as a form of controlled consensual aggression that brings people together across nations remains relevant to Wonder Woman’s ethos today.

The Killing Joke led to Jason’s death

Joker shot Barbara, paralysing her -> Gordon and all cops worked extra hard to seize Joker’s assets->Joker became broke so he sold his missile to Arab Terrorists-> Batman and Robin stop him-> Joker tries to get money back by blackmailing Jason’s mom->Jason tries to stop-> Jason is beaten and killed,

Side note:Joker was also going to leave Jason alive until his mom asked what’s Batman going to do.

How many spots should the Cheetah have?

I put the major options I’m aware of in the poll but I’m sure I missed some things. I’d also like to ask how dark ya’ll like the spots to be (black, brown, 40% opacity?) and whether you prefer true spots or like the look of leopard rosettes. I presume everyone has preferences for how animalistic they prefer Cheetah to look as well.

Do you prefer a grounded or “timeless” origin?

For example, the golden age origin where the Amazon champion is called to assist the allied powers in World War II is grounded. The silver age origin where the champion is called to do good and stop evil more generally is timeless. I would also argue that the Perez origin is grounded because of how much it’s written in response to Cold War nuclear anxiety, and the Rebirth origin is timeless because the threat of Ares’ escape isn’t connected to any real world politics.

Personally I prefer a grounded origin. I like to interpret Ares’ submission to Aphrodite and his childrens’ efforts to free him as a mythical reflection of how the Nazis were defeated in WW2 but fascism still persists as an ideology today. I think Wonder Woman is a topical character by nature and packs a stronger punch when she’s got a political or at least historical basis.

Philosophies of other WW writers

There’s much discussion about the philosophy of the creator of Wonder Woman, William Moulton Marston, but what about the other authors who have significantly contributed to her mythos? What did they believe, and why did they make the creative choices they did? I’m mainly curious about Perez, but I’m interested in other writers as well.

How many stars on her bottoms?

Forget the battleskirt vs leotard debate, we should be arguing about what REALLY matters!

How many stars should the bottom half of Wonder Woman’s costume have?

I tried to give a compelling reason for each number. If you prefer a number that isn’t listed, please comment. I would’ve gone straight from 1-50 but Reddit doesn’t let me put that many options in a poll.

How do you feel about about the Diana Rockwell backstory?

It feels clunky to me. I don’t get why Steve has to be driving the bus.
