Ever since Tom King came and butchered my goat, I’ve been reading her New Earth stuff to remember what we lost and I realized, Steve is not present at all. This is because Pérez made Steve to be an “older uncle figure” I guess? And also we got other love interests like that detective (can’t remember his name, he was that uninteresting) and Trevor Barnes who in my opinion was the best love interest after Steve. After Tom King leaves I feel like we should put Steve on hold cuz we’ve had enough honestly so what do y’all think? Ready to explore a new love interest?

I thought it'd be interesting to see which WW villains have the most adaptations. Some observations:
Hope we add more to this list soon!
It feels clunky to me. I don’t get why Steve has to be driving the bus.
It's clear to me that it's mostly men who are writing romances for Diana whenever there is one, in her stories. They cannot help themselves but write it through the lens of a man, or catering towards men, even if they try and dress it up from Diana's pov, it isn't.
I absolutely hate Steve Trevor x Diana, it's like a chain on her freedom, always trying to bring a "balance" within her character, as if otherwise she's too independent, too haughty or against human traditions, and it's our earth boy steve's job to bring diana to the light and give her balance, or else she'll be too much. The 2009 animated movie made me puke how bad he was in that, his other iterations in the comics or shows etc aren't much better either. He's better as a platonic friend, ally or dead first love, that's it. They always have his and diana's dynamics be awkward and infuriating with how diana doesn't fit the traditional gender norms due to her powers and it would be graceful of her, if she lowered herself and followed them for his sake. Unironically, the first WW movie with Chris Pine as Steve Trevor (only the first movie), that is the only time where Steve x Diana was written and performed well and endearing, not infuriating for me.
I absolutely hate whenever they try and pair her up with Clark or Bruce also. Clark x Diana just doesn't and will not work, because of the existence of Lois, she's too important and integral to Superman's story. And Diana cannot, will not and should not be the second choice of any man's life. It's not that clark x Diana is bad, it's just that clark x lois is so permanent and defined, that Superman x Wonderwoman will always feel hollow and second fiddle to that. And Wonderwoman shouldn't have to compete with anyone when it comes to her love life. Also, Superman x Wonderwoman just have precious sibling energy, and i don't like it when they taint that with romance, we know is never an endgame for them anyways.
Diana x Bruce? Please just stop, never make this. It's cringe, it's always cringe. I get it, bruce is everyone's favourite mortal, give him prep time and he's god, but just stop it. He's a mortal human, whenever they try and flex his prowess before diana, it doesn't come off as "woah, what a man" to me, it reads off as if a mom is watching their edgy kid lift chairs and clapping for him. There's nothing he can do to blow her mind, the writers should please stop trying to write those scenarios with them. WW is not desperate for Brucy I'm sorry, stop making him act like a weirdo being mysterious in the corner for her. They are better at being comrades and allies, friends who have differing opinions but ultimately respect each other, that's it.
He also has too many issues, too emotionally and physically unavailable and again, an arsenal full of great women he's not there to commit to. Diana will not be one of them.
I wish for a josei or a good romance writer, to be consulted or given reigns when they're writing elements of romance for Diana.
Why is it always a subtle gender dynamic shift/reversal dilemma nonsense whenever they're writing romance for her? Why can't they focus on the romance?!! I'll even take misunderstandings other bs i usually hate in women centric romances over whatever they usually do with Wonderwoman stories when it comes to romance.
It's always a subtle debate in her stories, about who should submit to who, when they're writing wonder woman romances. Is that ever a thought when you're writing lois x clark or Bruce x selina or Bruce x talia? Why is everything about diana's romances a gender messaging/debate issue.
I admire the character of wonder woman so much, and her character from its origin back in the 20th century has had such an uphill battle to be a dignified figure rather than a fetish.
i just wish she was allowed to love without lowering her character and self. If they can't do that, just don't bother with romance at all.

I wonder how you would react if you saw someone flying around in a seated position?

Empress Hippolyta of the Chi Dimension and Queen Hippolyta practically coexisted, but, thinking about a new universe that would reunite/rescue the versions to coexist on a single Earth, which characters do you think could coexist with the Rebirth versions?
For example, in my opinion, Stephanie Williams brought Queen Nubia (Princess Zahavah) to life in a way that doesn't even resemble her 1970s version inspired by Princess Nubia. They are basically characters who share the same name and skin tone, and apart from that, they are nothing alike. Therefore, nothing would prevent the two from coexisting.
I've been reading back through the Sovereign arc of Tom King's run recently and I can't help but feel this was a major missed opportunity.
If Tom King was going to make Vanessa a villain again after she was redeemed in volume 5 issue 750, then making her and Barbra Ann Minerva/Cheetah fight each other seems like the most obvious of set ups...
To explain my reasoning, let's take look at how Vanessa acts under Tom King's Pen...
Telling Diana how perfect she is...
Getting angry at Yara Flor for using Diana's name
Getting angry at Matriarch for hurting Diana....
Vanessa under Tom King is homicidally obsessed with Diana while at the same time showing a complete disregard for Diana's own feelings/desires.
Up against this, next we can look at Tom King's version of Barbara Ann Minerva (who is a reasonable continuation of how she acted under Cloonan and Conrad)
When Barbara isn't being driven mad with hunger, she and Diana come across as two people who were once genuinely very close friends but had a bitter falling out, though now they're working to reconcile (primarily because that is exactly what they are).
Vanessa by all rights should HATE Barbara from the bottom of her heart, because she would see Barbara as being unworthy of the time/attention/love that Diana shows her ("She came to rescue you, and you tried to eat her!") while in turn whenever Barbara looks at Vanessa she'd end up seeing many of her own worst qualities that she's currently struggling to overcome (jealousy, near mindless rage, a belief that Diana personally betrayed her simply because Wonder Woman chose to help other people first) reflected back at her.
Even leaving aside the obvious "bird versus cat" motif, I can't help but feel that Vanessa and Barbara seem to be perfectly established to have just some incredibly compelling dialogue if you had the two of the interact with each other.
Does anybody else wish we could have seen these two face off in issue 17/hope that we'll get to see them do so in some future issue, or is it just me?
