If peircing blood is "said" to Exede mach 1, same one sjibuya yuji reacted to, then suddenly yuji couldnt at all react to a below mach 0.8 traveling naoya (he surpassed subsonic speeds upon stacks)

Is there any sort of explination or is this just an out right inconsistency?
