to the guy walking his unleashed dog on the MBT this morning

When I told him it was dangerous to have an unleashed dog on a multi-use trail, he told me either to have a nice day or suck his d***, honestly couldn't tell which. In any case he didn't immediately leash his dog, no surprise.

If I could have another exchange with him, I'd say: have you considered that it's disrespectful to your fellow trail users? Every cyclist that passes you is going to be concerned with whether your dog might dart unexpectedly across the trail, and every fellow dog walker is going to be concerned with how your dog might interact with theirs. You may know your dog is well trained, but nobody else does. Besides--do you know your dog won't dart across the trail if a rat or squirrel does? You SURE about that?

seeing double

Congrats to Renske Huntelaar on upsetting the #3 seed in straight games, very impressive. Good luck against the #7 seed in a couple hours??

At first I thought I was seeing double or there were multiple players with the exact same name. No, it turns out they're playing the round 2 and the quarterfinal matches on the same day. Brutal! Now I gotta know--was there some kind of delay that made them have to compress the schedule, or is this just how the schedule works for this tournament? Surely this isn't normal to have multiple rounds in the same day. I mean, it's routine for amateur tournaments but I thought the pros got treated better!

riding a scooter in the street next to bike lane--why?

I'm mostly just massively curious why someone would do this. The other day I was cycling southbound in the bike lane on West Virginia Ave and started to overtake a young woman on an electric scooter, a lightweight razor-esque one. She was wearing a helment and probably doing 13-14 mph--in the street. Not down the middle of the street, but hugging the side of the lane, next to the bike lane. When a car came up behind her, after a few seconds with the car on her tail she moved into the bike lane to let the car pass. I moved into the street to pass her then too, and right as I was passing her she almost steered into me as she tried to merge back into the street. For no apparent reason, as far as I could tell.

When I got further down WV Ave I looked back and there she was, riding in the street hugging the bike lane again.

Just.. why? Why would someone do this? The bike lanes on WV can be a little bumpy I guess? Is that enough reason to ride in the street with cars on a lightweight scooter going well below traffic speed? What would possess someone to do that! Maybe I should have asked her while I was overtaking her but I was too busy making sure she didn't collide with me lol

If you don't know Jomboy, he's one of the biggest faces of the American sports social media world. Mostly he does baseball but he also does a lot of coverage of other sports. He does a regular video series where he highlights recent notable moments from sports or leagues that his mostly American mostly baseball-watching followers would otherwise never encounter. In today's video, Jomboy highlights squash. And guess what, of course the squash that gets featured is the most notable match in recent memory--which also happens to be one of the ugliest. Scrolling through the comments is so disheartening. Tens of thousands of people are seeing squash for the very first time in this video, and they could not be more turned off. I'm so disheartened. (Squash segment starts at 4:47)
