How do I stop being "the tech guy" and start getting asked to play?

I'm an experienced improviser. I've been on some really strong show runs, played on good indie and house teams, and showrun a few shows.

I also run tech for shows a few nights a week to help pay for classes and workshops. Over time I've become the unofficial go-to tech person for a few groups, and I sometimes get asked to tech outside my usual hours because people trust me with it.

I take that as a compliment, and I love being trusted with it. But I'd also love to be asked to play in a show, without having to fill out an audition form or throw my name into an open sign-up. It's frustrating to be known as the tech guy instead of someone who can hold their own on stage.

Has anyone else been in this spot? How did you shift how people see you?

Black Stuff on New T-shirt

Got a new tshirt that has some black stuff seemingly integrated into the sleeve, tried getting it off with finger nails and tweezers with no luck

The shirt was washed and dried before I noticed

Clowns: How do you create your bits?

Posting here because many modern clowns are also improvisers and there is no clown sub.

I've taken a few modern clown workshops and want to get a bit on stage, but don't know where to start. Clowns, what are your processes for creating bits? Where are you getting inspiration, how much are you writing down/ scripting, how much is improvised? Thanks!
