CarPlay weirdness after repairs
Got rear ended the other week. Took the EV9 to the collision repair place I've always used for body work and collision repairs, great people, always have done great work; They specialize in EV repairs in particular.
The damage from the accident was minimal. The rear bumper had to be replaced and some small plastic bits on the underside along with some paint missing on the trunk hatch itself. All electronics were still working after the accident but as part of the repair they had to re-align the rear camera and parking sensors.
The day I got the car back (2026-05-15) I received an OTA update as well.
Ever since getting the car back I've had issues with wireless CarPlay. Every time I connect, it will connect for a few minutes and then the infotainment system reboots. Then, today, CarPlay wouldn't connect at all until I did a soft reset on the system by holding the power button down for 15 seconds after which is connect without issue. Aside from that one hiccup, everything is still working fine and after the reboot happens, it's stable but it wasn't doing this before last week.
My question is, is this due to something they might have done during the repairs (software reset, refresh of some kind?) or is there a known issue with the latest OTA update? The dealer I bought from is pretty far from my house so I'm trying to decide if it's worth bringing in or if I should wait for another OTA update.
You’re broke and you can’t drive your LC for a month. What work are you doing to your rig?
Title says it. You’re broke and can’t drive your LC for a month. What projects are you going to tear in to?
Been trying to figure this one out myself because, well, I’m broke for a bit and learned today that I can’t drive the LC until some paperwork gets sorted out with the tag office.
Im thinking I might do some work on an electrical refresh. Calling the wiring on this girl a mess is an understatement. I need to yank out some old accessory wires the PO left in but took the accessories for. I’ve got a couple of bad connectors that need replacing and some of the harness going to the tail lights is… well, not great. It’s cobbled together and working right now but it looks like someone sprayed silly string around the inside of the rear quarters and they could use some TLC.
What are you doing?
I got the passenger side out with brute force but I can NOT get the drivers side out. I ended up cutting the damper off to get better access with my punch and I’ve been dousing it with PB Blaster all day.
Any tricks for getting this PITA out? It’s now cut flush on both sides. I’m going to borrow an impact drill and get a drill bit to try and drill/punch it out with more vigorous impact.
I don’t have easy access to a torch. I do have a heat gun and thought about giving that a go. I could also go get a propane torch but there’s so much grease and oil soaking the area that I’m afraid I’ll start a fire.
Thanks in advance for the advice. I’ve worked on a lot of old rust buckets but this one really takes the cake.
