For some reason I cannot add "goods transfer" to a treaty even though we share a border. I thought there might an impassable terrain, but no, it does not seem like that.
So I ran observer mode for 12.5 and 13.5 until 1870s to compare how AI is doing. I know doing just one for each version is not enough for a comparison, but my computer is too slow for more :)
Summary - I think the AI performance is very comparable. Each version has some quirks (like USA seems weak in 1.13.5), but other than that it is very similar I would say
GDP - I thought GDP would be much lower in 1.13 than 1.12 due to ships, but it seems not as bad. Countries are performing just a little worse.
Military - As expected there are less navies in 1.13
Colonization - seems like AI is having troubles with colonization. Africa and Australia is much less colonized in 1.13.
World - Interestingly EIC dissolved in 1.12 and not in 1.13. USA seems weak, not very united :) - this seems consistent with experience on Reddit as well.
HW Perfromance - there seems to be a little slowdown for v 1.13 a year in 70s took me a little over 3 minutes, while around 2.5 minutes in 1.12. So something like 20% increase. Unfortunately I cannot give you an average for the whole period as I messed up my 1.13 run - I kept ledger open and only later realized it is slowing the computation down by like 80% .... (btw how does it run on something not 10 years old? I should probably consider an upgrade :D)
Indian revolt after prolonged bombardment
EIC attacked me (Oman) with the goal to get my part of Baluchistan. To my surprise they had just 4 ships. My 8 ships easily destroyed their navy and I started to bombard their ports in the bay of Bengal. To my disappointment the bombardment did absolutly nothing to the warscore ...but around 20% devastation, a revolt started which was EIC unable to stop.
East India formed, but it quickly collapsed into individual states.
I never saw EIC collapse so soon into the game (1844). Was it really the bombardment or is that some quirk of current patch, that EIC collapses so quickly?
Am I the only one who is struggling to find stuff in tech tree? Seach bar would save so much time!
I think it was Endless Space 2 which had this, and it was awesome. When searching, it would highlight all the nodes with given keywords. And it was searching both names and descriptions, bonuses, etc.
Do you not get annoyed that this feature is missing? Or do you all just remember where everything is, what gives you what bonus, etc ? I am always scrolling left and right just to find something specific.
