Long term home wall owners/users: Any noticeable effects on home?
Hello all, Has anyone ever experienced (or heard of) damage to a home/garage due to home wall use over time? (e.g. floor joist rotation/displacement)
I want to put a home wall in my unfinished basement. My intent is to build a 40 degree wall 7 ft tall oriented perpendicular to the floor joists. Thus the climbing wall header would span multiple joists along their length. I will be in this home long-term.
Short term, I am not concerned. Say 2 years of use. I am curious what the implications are of having a home wall that is used 1x (maybe 2x) a week for a decade.
Anyone have experience with a home wall on this time scale? Any effects? End up taking it down? Still climbing on it and good as ever? (follow up question: has anyone built parallel to the joists with a sleeper across multiple joists?)
