How to make TB2 fit in 9 foot 5 inch garage?
Hi all, been lurking here for a while. I'm deciding between trying to squeeze in a 8x12 TB2 @ 40 degrees versus @ 45 degrees where we'll be able to have a kicker and it will be a simpler build. It will be a fixed angle.
Long story short, garage is 113 inches tall so we can squeeze in the 40 degree with no kickboard (plus, we need to bevel the top frame to make it fit). Or, we can do 45 degrees with a nice kickboard.
- Reasons why we want the 40 deg: we sampled the TB2 at this angle and liked it, it is the most popular angle (most classics / ascents and climbs set for this angle), and it's slightly less steep so "chill" volume days are more reasonable.
- Reasons why we want the 45 deg: we get a kickboard, it's a much easier build since it fits nicely.
Maybe useful stats: Wife climbs V5-7 outdoors, V4-5 on the MB2024. I climb a couple grades higher. On our limited session on the TB2 we climbed V4-7 classics at 40 degrees. She's 5'1" and I'm 5'8" if that matters.
The board is there for fun first (it's the only thing we will climb on besides real rock) and a training tool second.
For those with more homewall and TB2 experience, what would you suggest? The last option is a 8x10 board but we'd really prefer the 12 foot height as there's way more climbs set on it. Also, are there any options to save board length (trim a couple inches off the top/bottom of the board so the footholds sit close to the edge of the board? Thanks.
TB2 vs Woods wall
Curious on what everyone's experience between these two are. Looking at the 8x10 woods wall vs the 10x8 TB2 set. Overall think with my lower ceilings woods wall will be a better fit and the overall density of holds to choose from, but looking at the app the problems are quite sparse at 40°.
Extension of Moonboard mini 2025 - advice
Hello guys,
After a while, I finally managed to extend my board, and now it's much higher than the original mini board. I need some advice on what holds to put on the board extension.
What would you do in my place? I thought about ordering more wooden holds from Moonboard, or maybe I should consider a different provider, since all the new problems will be custom anyway...
Would you order more wooden holds / a different set from Moon, or look elsewhere?
What’s the best way to mount on this rock wall?
I prefer not to drill in Mount directly into the rock. I’m hoping I can use the grout area, but I’m not sure that’s gonna be strong enough. What do you think?
Moonboard 2016 setup
Each year we remove all the holds from our spray wall, repaint, and start with a new setup.
This year, we went for a second-hand MoonBoard 2016! It is damn hard, but it seems to be a great climbing training tool. 💪🧗♀️
My 10 yo son is stronger than me 🥹
Total recall alien device holds
Process to create these.
- Find STL file to 3-d print - of course sci-nerds have these available.
- Modify file and print in PLA
- Polish round surface for no texture
- Drill holes for screws.
- Add wood glue to hand print area and sprinkle with sand for texture.
- 3-d print a dam to pour silicone around shape
- Pour silicone.
- Pour synrock into mold.
This climbed very nice so I also made 75% and 5O% sizes
You guys helped
I’ve never really used Reddit before but after posting a few questions on my design with yall and seeing the result, I couldn’t be happier. Love this community!!
The spray wall came out well in the apartment that’s has ceilings only 7’10” (2.39m)! I did have to put it at 45 degrees to get about 10’ (3m) so going to get strong this winter.
Spray wall problem suggestions please!
Suggest some boulder problems please!!!
Real rock holds
Hi, thought some people might be interested in some homemade holds. My process has come a long way and sometimes changes depending on the rock but generally…
Find a rock with interesting feature that won’t just be a pinch.
Cut the back flat with a tile saw or lapidary saw.
Drill various holes using diamond coated hole saw drill bit.
Flatten the recess holes with cylinder grinding stones.
Glue in washers.
Glue on 3mm rubber backing.

Home wall landing options?
Hey all, I'm debating on what to do for a home wall in my garage and wonder about landing pad options. I only have 1 crash pad and don't think that's safe enough for climbing alone. I saw online that some people get old pads from a gym, but that's not likely to happen for me. Online I see pads go for over $1000 often, which is a big dent into the project budget of roughly $2000-2500. The height of the garage is just over 8 ft, but I think I might try to make a header that is vertical between rafters to try and get some extra height. The planned angle is between 40-50°. Hopefully that's all the project stats needed for to answer, but I can clarify in comments.
What do y'all use or recommend?
if you rebuilt your home wall, what would you change?
I’m pretty new to board climbing and have been going through all the builds people have shared here.
For those who’ve had a home wall for a while, what did you get right the first time, and what did you eventually change?
Size, angle, fixed vs adjustable, hold density, where you put it—anything really. I’m also curious whether you still use it as much as you expected.
Success stories and expensive mistakes are both welcome. Bonus points for photos :)
Anyone experiment with creating your own holds out of stones/rocks?

Seconds for home wall
Hi,
Planning to build a small home wall to try it out. Hoping to find that I really enjoy climbing and will want to do it several times weekly. I’m becoming a couch potato. I've only tried climbing two or three times at an indoor facility and really enjoyed it, but there is not one within an hour and 15 minutes from my home. This board has been very helpful and I learned about buying factory seconds. Figured I would share what I got in my box in case anyone else is interested. I paid $210 total with bolts included for a 15 pound box. Thanks to everyone that contributes to this board.
Help with mini moonboard
Guys I’ve got a home wall. The grid is 15 x 15cm.
I want to set up a mini moonboard.
The wall is already 2.4m x 2.4m with a kickboard.
I can’t really put new panels on because I won’t have anywhere to store the old panels/holds.
My plan was to mark out the rows and columns on the board as per the mini moonboard schematic and then see which existing holes match, and drill new ones as needed.
Does that sound like a good plan?
Here’s a picture of the wall.
It’s already at a 35-40 degree angle.
Noise from home wall in apartment?
Hi all,
I'm seriously considering building a home wall - but I'm nervous about the noise that climbing on it will create. I'm in an apartment on the 4th floor. I'm building an 8x8(foot) wall.
Have any of you had experience with this? Have you ever had a complaint from a downstairs neighbor or got into some issues because of noise? Do you think this will be an issue?
Alternatively, if you have tips to keep noise down significantly, let me know!
Any thoughts are appreciated!
