Cutting out soda
I haven’t drank soda in almost a month and a half after consuming multiple mini cans a day for well over a year.
I’ve drank soda consistently for most of my life, starting at about 10/11. I drank it with meals because for some reason I find it very difficult to enjoy water while eating (I really wish I knew why because I like water outside of mealtimes).
I’ve given up soda in the past during lent, and drank sparkling water instead. I had oral surgery in May and wasn’t able to drink carbonated drinks for two weeks, and my solution was to drink juice instead of soda with meals.
I know juice isn’t the healthiest option and ideally I would be drinking water but I just can’t get myself to do it without feeling nauseous.
I’ve heard that fruit juice is just as bad for you as soda, not sure if that’s totally true. I’ve lost almost 10lbs since I made the switch (weight loss wasn’t my goal but it was a welcome side effect as I am a bit overweight). I drink 100% apple, white grape, and vitamin d+calcium fortified orange juice; never any cocktails or anything with added sugar.
I guess now I’m wondering if anyone else has similar experiences or suggestions on how I should move forward with this journey. I’d love to be healthier so any advice is welcome!
TLDR; I gave up soda for fruit juice because I struggle to drink water with meals.
