About the nine realms

I'm trying to make some stuff up for my fictional world, but i can't quite nail down the realms, but just recently, i think i've had a stroke of genius.

The general list would be: Asgard, Midgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Svartalfheim, Jotunheim, Helheim, then Muspelheim and Niflheim.

But Snorri has 2 other terms. Asaheim and Mannheim, which he uses interchangebly with Asgard and Midgard. But i think Snorri is wrong here.

I think the nine realms are Asaheim, Vanaheim, Mannheim, Alfheim, Svartalfheim, Jotunheim, Helheim, Niflheim, and Muspelheim, thus, Niu heimar.

Which leaves Asgard, Midgard, and Utgard to explain relationships between these different realms.

By no accounts is this gonna be an accurate reflection of the old belief, at least its incredibly unlikely, but i need something to bounce off of.

What do you people think?

Edit: Seriously, i can't be the only one who noticed, right? It's been driving me nuts trying to figure out the nine realms.

Could Sif's affair be symbolic??

Sif cheats on Thor with Loki, If i've understood correctly.

And if Sif and Thor’s relationship is like, symbolic for rain falling over the fields of grain and all that jazz, could Sif's affair with Loki be symbolic for bad harvests and sickness among crops?

Getting headbutted by Thor must really suck (Because of Hrungnir)

First picture Is basically just to show how I think the whetstone sits in Thor’s head so that the second picture makes a little more sense.

Thor (by me)

Hope this doesn’t violate any guidelines.

Anyway, this is my rendition of Thor, and what I think he might’ve looked like

Thor and Sif

I felt like mythological accuracy was missing from the media I consumed so i decided to take it into my own hands and made it both culturally, historically, and mythically accurate! (Or at least I tried to.)

For a little bit of context for the picture:
Thor was poring himself a drink at home in Bilskirnir, and Sif came barging in after a long day of milling grain, bragging about how big her arms have gotten.

Thor isn’t wearing his gloves because he’s at home btw, he doesn’t have any use for them right then and there.

“Lord of the goat chariot” by me, digitally, 2026

I drew Thor!

I tried my best making him as mythologically and historically accurate as possible, and he doesn’t have his gloves because he’s working.

I might draw him on his fishing trip, which means he’ll be completely decked out with his gloves and everything.

Did Thor have an afterlife domain??

Ok so in their insult battle, Harbard states to Thor; "Odin has the earls who fall in battle, but Thor has the race of thralls." Or something along those lines.

We know that Odin has Valhall, where he keeps these warriors, a hall with 540 rooms.
Thor’s hall, Bilskirnir also has 540 rooms, located in Thrudvang.
Freyja has Folkvang.

So you have the same amount of rooms, and similar names.

And if you look at other Norse afterlives, they all have some denominator
Death in battle = Valhall/Folkvang
Drown at sea = Ran‘s net
Die of sickness or age = Hel
Women who die unmarried = Gefjon

So maybe Thor has a domain for those who die in work maybe? Like someone trampled by cattle??

Thor

I just felt like drawing Thor and I want to talk about it. Feel free to ask questions about my choices.

The viltrumite meme

The coloring is kinda crappy, i couldn’t be bothered to put ALL too much effort into it but i’m happy with it.
