LPT: If you leave your laptop at home, it's loud/hot, and it's plugged in all the time just physically remove the battery.
My laptop's fans were always loud and it would occasionally get pretty hot. When I figured it's stationary most of the time, I removed the battery and left it plugged in. The fans are super quiet now and the laptop has no issues. I can still take it around with me but I just need to make sure I have an outlet, so it's mostly reserved for if I need it on a trip.
