35 LAKHS FOR B.DES?!?!?

The minimum amount for studying at CEPT is 35 LAKHS? (25 - Tuition and 10 - Hostel) which might increase as well.

Plus Stationary, Foreign Exchange, Summer/Winter course, and what not.

Info on scholarships (except for Means based) is very vague and no amount is disclosed.

How can one make a decision with such a lack of clarity?

Also Is it even worth the fees?

B.F.Tech Query

I will be getting AIR 1-10 for B.F.Tech but don't know anything about it. Is it even a bit creative or just theoretical/boring like PCM? What do you study in it? Drop any tips/info you have for me.

GREAT Interview

TLDR: It was just me talking for 80-90% of the time. I was mostly fluent, gave great examples and references, but maybe my answers were TOO LONG and lacked structure, so idk what to feel about that. I'll surely get in but it's a good scholarship that I'm uncertain about.

Anyway, I'll share whatever I remember from the interview.

I had mine at 9:00 am on 12th May, and I had to be somewhere at 10:00. Rushed to a cafe on my way (hoping it's quiet and not crowded) and joined just in time.

I had Khushboo Jogani and Chhavi. Knew a bit about Khushboo from Linkedin/IG but hadn't even heard the other person's name. Khushboo started the interview by asking

"was there anything you wanted to add to your portfolio but you couldn't?"

To which I gave a very long answer, listing Sports (football and running) achievements/Leadership experiences, A product I'm thinking of creating, a blunder in my portfolio, adding links to my work, AI Filmmaking and that was it ig.

Asked: How did you get into design, what made you feel this is the thing I want to do and How have you been preparing for design?
I honestly said "I've not been preparing for the past few years" and then told my story. (which is too long for this post, might share later in comments if someone asks for it)

Then they mentioned "We have been through your portfolio, and the Statement of Purpose. You have talked about Intentionality in design (taking the example of Apple)

Can you tell me about some other places you've observed intentionality in design - apart from Apple, and how you have been using intentionality in your own work and projects?

My answer (shortened for the post): As I mostly have reels/films as my projects I took the example of Imtiaz Ali films, described the intricacies and then for my own work, said "Main Kya Hoon?" and "Main hoon kya?" these are same 3 words but a slight change makes a huge difference, that's what I've been doing in my work.

And then gave the example of Decathlon products (Running shorts and Windproof Gloves), connected it to my running, and explained how they think so much about the user's needs. (I legit pushed my table away and stood during the interview to show them the pockets in my cargo, to explain it better)

Then Khushboo passed the mic to Chhavi who had been on mute till now.

By now, it was established that I observe a lot. So she asked: What are some issues you have seen your parents face? Where and How do you think design can help with it?

Annoyed by my long answers or due to lack of time, they said: Just tell us about one.

I didn't obey the instructions😭 and said "I'll give you three bullet points and then you can choose which one should I elaborate on"

- Communication
- Knee Pain and Obesity
- Online learning and finding valuable free resources

They asked me to elaborate on Knee Pain.

(The solution to that is slightly lengthy and technical. I might share my solution based on my observations in the comments if enough people ask for it.)

At the end, they asked if I have any questions but I didn't ask anything which I feel is a missed opportunity.

Probably, There were some other questions as well which I don't remember now.

They were very particular about the time and right at 9:30 there was a message in the chatbox saying "time is up" I anyway stretched it for another 8 to 12 mins ig
