Hi guys, First time tiling . Iripped up an old Granite hearth. Found pine wood to be underneath. We want to tile the floor in fireplace. Then install a log burner.

What do I need to know before I do that?
Do I need to put something fireproof between files and wood floor? Or cut wood floor back?

Can I put slate down, then tiling matting. Then tile. Put log burner on top no issue?

Also I want to do brick slips inside fireplace. Do I need to use some kind of heat resistant adhesive?
