Given the choice, I wouldn't want to be around me either

Since I was like 12 years old my biggest fear, really my only one, was dying alone. That's a really messed up fear for a 12 year old to have, and that's exactly how I'm going to end up.

[OC] Not sure I even remember what it's like to have a good time anymore. Did I ever?

Tomorrow 2:45 pm 1 Canal Plaza, Portland, Protest Susan Collins with team Platner

Idk if Graham will be there. I got a text from the campaign so I figured I would pass it along to Reddit. Here's the link to RSVP if you want to: https://mobilize.us/s/fwuV6R

Even if you hate him & think he's lying about everything, still better than Susan Collins

It's funny to see all of the purity tests and pearl clutching coming from the people who undoubtedly would make the case to vote for the lesser evil & to vote blue no matter who.

This is obviously the primary, so we will see if his haters stick to blue no matter who. But they are probably also the people who claimed everyone had to support Joe Biden because he was most electable against Trump (even though all the polls had Bernie winning by more) but they don't seem to care about electability now. I saw a post recommending someone else they said had similar policies to Platner, but almost nobody had heard of them. The people who had heard of them said they were bland & unexciting & had already failed in a race for Governor and people still don't know their name.

Graham has the national spotlight right now. If he wins there will be attention on whatever he does next. Even if he screws us over & turns out to be a liar & flips on everything, that could be a catalyst for change or a 3rd party with actual follow through. Also if he wins if could inspire more grassroots anti-establishment candidates to run. Either way there will be a lot of attention on our election with him vs Collins and ranked choice voting could come into play. Nationwide stories about our election with RCV could get more places to pass it for their state.

Susan Collins against some standard Dem is no story. I believe that Sarah Gideon conceded from the race before all the votes were counted in order to prevent RCV from being triggered and creating a nationwide story about its success and how it works because Dems don't want more places to have it because it would help Left-wing anti-establishment candidates and 3rd parties more than it would help them.

At the very least, I don't think Graham Platner would do that.

I heard Graham Platner used to have slicked back hair & eat sloppy steaks.

If we want a real person as a candidate, they may have a checkered past especially in their internet history. At this point in the age of the internet if someone has a squeaky clean internet history it would most likely mean they were always planning on running for office & were calculating about their persona their whole adult life & even teen years maybe. That's not a real person, it's a costume.

This is the comment they really care about.

This was removed from r/Maine as spam or excessive self promotion. It was my first post there and I am not Graham Platner.

Before it was removed there was one comment saying to stop with "both sides are the same" and another asking if it was Republican humor. Both sides work for billionaires & are pro capitalism & war. That's what's most important to them. That's why Democrats are more worried about Platner winning the primary than Collins winning the general, just like in 2016 when they were more concerned with stopping Bernie than Trump & again in 2020.

And how would this possibly be Republican humor? Republicans think Democrats are Socialists. I'm a Leftist. To me, Democrats are Right-wing because they support Capitalism. Also, by the definition of conservatism Liberals/Neoliberals are conservative (small c), Because the definition is wanting to keep things mostly the same with existing systems. We live in a neoliberal society and Liberals (big L) want to keep it that way.

Being liberal vs being a Liberal are different things, same with conservative vs Conservative and democratic vs Democratic.

The seats on his yacht are cracking. Over Memorial Day weekend he was embarrassed to have his friends on it. He had to put towels on the seats! 😭😭

I bet most here can't even imagine what that's like.

Finally someone willing to speak the truth that other politicians won't address.

I'm so sick of all the homeless people all over the city when there is one clear & obvious solution we've written off as a joke for decades.

They're out there anyway, might as well be useful. They are probably mostly on meth anyway & when they are sore after a long day of pulling tourists around in the summer heat they will just shoot up heroin at night to get to sleep anyway. That's how the boys did it in 'Nam.

Look how happy he looks once he gets going. He finally has a purpose. And everyone knows that the only thing you need to cure mental illness is exercise.

And I'm thinking we can take it even further to capitalize more off their vagrancy. Let's slap some corporate logos on them so corporations can get a right off for their sponsorship, slap some mobile hotspots on them as they roam around the city.

I'm thinking about starting a Kickstarter to buy some rickshaws to strap to these vagrants. Obviously with GPS attached & probably have to cuff the homeless to it for their shift so they don't scrap it for the metal price & take off.

Any suggestions on how we can further put these drains of society to better use to improve things for all is fine upstanding citizens would be welcome.

(In case anyone is dense enough to miss it, this is satire. I only point that out because I have a lot of experience with people not picking up on satire no matter how obvious it is. I'm recently unhoused but I'm not out in the streets of Portland, yet. I am legitimately considering trying to get money, maybe through a Kickstarter, to get rickshaw attachment or pedicab attachment for my bike and ideally to get an e-bike also and have a homeless rickshaw around Portland to hopefully fleece tourists who may pay extra both for the comedic value & to help out a homeless person. If anyone would be interested in helping me with the startup costs, hit me up. I'm a former content creator, mostly memes, but I would probably end up creating some sort of homeless rickshaw content. Maybe it would be like taxi cab confessions where I film conversations. And I would give them like options when they get in if they want no conversation or conversation that's like made up tourist guide stuff like Frank Reynolds on Always Sunny, or just various topics that I'm interested in like aliens. I would maybe avoid politics because I wouldn't want my opinions to then hurt my tips but hopefully the people that would use the homeless rickshaw would be more on the Left. And I am trying to better my situation but also I'm disabled and in the process of applying for disability and the circumstances of me becoming unhoused were very abrupt and bullshit.

And another thing that a lot of people seem to be missing on the other post when I'm advocating for universal housing, that wouldn't only apply to people who are currently unhoused. Universal means universal, so everyone would have the same option of a free modest apartment, or I would even also offer an option of small pots of land if people want to live more in nature with less of a footprint. But that means it would also apply to students who wouldn't have to pay for housing at school where there often isn't enough of it and students often end up living out of their cars or tents. It would also apply to young adults so that they're able to save more money to eventually purchase their own home and build their wealth instead of paying rent that goes to paying off somebody else's property to add to their wealth. Some people would means would still choose to have a better apartment that they have to pay for but lots of people would choose the free option for at least a certain amount of time to save up money whether it's to buy a home or start a business or travel which all would put money into the economy. And without as much demand on rental properties that would decrease the rental prices for everybody as a whole. And boohoo for the landlords.)
