Duplo DC-616 vs DC-618 vs others

I saw a Duplo DC-618 at an expo this morning, and I think it would make my work life SO MUCH easier. That said - it looks like it's more than $30k, at least through the people who were showing it off.

The real task that this would help with would be business cards and greeting cards. I cut both on a big Polar cutter, and then I score the cards one at a time on a little scoring machine. If I could just set and forget those jobs - I'd have so much time to do other stuff.

I'm wondering how much difference I'd see between the 618 and the 616 (which is about 1/2 the price) - OR, if maybe there is another route that anyone would suggest.

Big picture, I could probably afford it - but I'd rather get something cheaper, if it could do the same job just as well.

Maybe some shops want to keep their methods a trade secret - but if you’re up for sharing your setup, I’d love to hear about it.

I use SAI Flexi, I print with a Roland XC-540, laminate with a heat assisted laminator, and cut with a Graphtec Fc8600.

I’ve been printing on a gloss print media, then laminating with a matte laminate. It looks good, I’m happy with the results.

I’d like to be able to do sticker sheets. I know I can switch the blade holder position to switch from contour cutting to kiss cutting, but I’ve used that method in the past, and it’s not great. The biggest issue seems to be the vinyl - I’ve tried using a thicker vinyl (6mil) and then NOT laminating… that works better, but as the ink cures, the edges of the kiss cuts warp and curl up. What’s the correct way to do this??
