Car Insurance Claim Timeline - is this normal?

Sharing my comprehensive insurance claim experience with SGI Philippines. This is not a complaint naman since they eventually processed my claim and settled their payments with the dealership and I now have the car back.

Feb 17, 2026 - date of when accident happened; with police report

March 4 - Initiated claim with the help of insurance coordinator from dealership
March 7 - received generic email from SGI that my claim has now been assigned to a claims handler
March 19 - Same person from dealership sent another follow-up email
March 24 - I sent a follow-up myself (this time I indicated the timeline above and intended to make it a running timeline each time an email is sent
March 25 - Finally received an email from handler saying he will call me through Viber for a virtual inspection, which eventually happened later that day
April 8 - Received approved LOA from handler
April 10 - Dealership provided a quotation to SGI and they exchanged emails to negotiate parts and amount to cover
April 16 - I paid the depreciation fee of 20% (car is over 3 years old na) to dealership and was advised that the parts will be ordered and is expected to be delivered within 10 working days. I'm surprised wala silang (SGI) hininging participation fee, expected ko pa naman na on top of the depreciation, and also part of my budget na din
April 18 - SGI sent a revised and approved LOA and asked for advance billing. Dealership emailed back and acknowledged it.
April 20 - SGI sent a follow-up email to dealership for the advance bill. I sent a the same follow-up myself hoping it'll get their attention
April 25 - SGI sent another follow-up email, to which dealership responded later in the afternoon with a service invoice attached
April 27 - SGI acknowledged and advised they'll process it immediately
April 30 - SGI sent an image of the check dated Apr 27, a copy of a payment voucher, and form 2307
May 4 - Dealership acknowledged receipt of check
May 6 - SGI sent an image of deposit slip
- I texted the service advisor for an update on when I can take my car to their casa to start the repair. Tangang (or baka busy lang sorry na po) service advisor sinabi wala pa daw payment. But I kept my cool and sent the screenshots of the April 30 emails with the check and deposit slip. Wala man lang apology for not reading the emails he was CC'ed in all throughout. Haaayyys
May 11 - I took the car to the dealership and left it there
May 20, 2026 - got the car back

---

Is this really the normal process? From March 7 til March 25 (kung kelan ako na mismo nag follow up) ska lang nila pinansin yung claim ko? Or good timing lang kay handler na di na sya busy nung time na yun at ako yung huling nag follow up

Damage on my car was not really severe so I still got to use it in the middle of all this.

Kayo po, what insurance company do you know na mabilis lang yung processing? I mean I can't imagine cases that need more urgent attention than I mine

Overall and in all fairness, I'm still very happy kasi they still held up with the expectation as insurer. Come next renewal I'll probably still choose them for my car insurance. This is my second year with SGI, last year may incident din na I was involved in, it took a lot of back and forth but it still ended up getting the expected coverage which is why I still chose them for this year.

PS. I paid SGI only 16k for my tnvs unit this year. Other insurance companies I inquired asked upwards of 50k kahit matanda na unit ko with over 90 thousand km clocked in on the odo so I went with SGI instead. Super happy kasi they paid over 70k (which is money I don't have) to have my car repaired. Same din last year: paid 17k and they covered 35k worth of repairs. Saying na super sulit, in my opinion, is an understatement.

Thanks SGI!

Pps. I am not paid by sgi to share this. Simply sharing my experience, and asking if there other providers who can process much faster, and appreciating sgi phils for living up to expectations despite the time involved in the process lalo nat doing the math, alam mong lugi na sila sakin and nasa kalagitnaan pa ng coverage policy ko sakanila
