Add a fire steel to your Synergy

Add a fire steel to your Synergy

I've seen people speculate about 3D printing stuff for the synergy gaps. Well you can get a fire steel in there nice and neat and snug with much less effort.

Take one of the tortoise gear mini firesteels that victorinox now sell and cut it with wire cutters e.g. on pliers to roughly the right shape (the large gap on the back side is best)

Then wrap it in cling film. This is key as you can trial and error just the right number of layers for a snug fit.

This one now just sits there, never slips out, causes no fuss.

Also the same brand waxy tinder can easily be remoulded and stuffed under the scissors or the knife, there's lots of space. So you have a full emergency fire kit.

Woop.

Ideas for removing liner lock from Synergy X?

Hi all,

I just got and really love the Synergy X, however the liner lock is illegal in the UK so I want to remove / disable it.

Any thoughts of a good approach? The neatest solution of course would be to dremmel the pins and redo it all but that's not an option for me.

I'd be happy to just break / cut ut. But It's quite a small space, so just bending / working with pliers isn't workable it seems - a diamond file might be possible in theory but it's so hard to work in the small space.

Any kind of tool that can cut metal and would get into this space? Bolt cutters come to mind but I think they are quite chunky at the tip for obvious reasons? 🤔

Appreciate any thoughts, even trollish ones telling me I'm an idiot!
