how to thrive in my 20s

Hi! I appreciate any advice given! it’s a lengthy post btw.

Here some context. I’m f20, in school online (about 10 credits a semester), a full ish time job as a RBT, and I have an apartment with 2 roommates.

I pay $700 in rent, $200 in my car loan, and $350 for insurance. I don’t really pay for groceries but I get gas a lot bc I travel a lot for work and go back home on the weekends sometimes.

At age 18/19 during my first year of college, I fell into a deep depression I didnt adjust to college well and my mental health suffered immensely. I lost my job in my college town, my car payment fell behind, i maxed my credit cards, and i got academically dismissed.

Now im doing much better being medicated, going to therapy, getting into working out. I still have frequent “depressive episodes” but much less and lasting for max a week. I did a charge off on my credit card, my car loan is up to date and i’m working towards paying it off by August of next year.

Im also taking community college classes so I can transfer to my home towns university when my gpa gets higher.

So my question is, where do I go from here? Obviously keep saving, going to school, and try to pay off my car loan asap are all things I am doing but I want to thrive.

I’ve spent so much time behind so I need to get back on track. I have aspirations of getting a MSW and have aspirations of doing something with younger children possibly play therapist.

My goal is to be happy, successful and thriving. I also have intentions on moving back home and getting a 1 bedroom apt near my family once my lease ends in June of 2027. I feel like I need a solidified plan but i’m kinda stuck.

Any advice for anyone that was once in my shoes ? All advice is so appreciated!!

I need suggestions & advice

So i’m 20f and just recently getting into working out. I mainly got into it because i’ve been suffering from depression for a bit and I noticed the drastic changes in my mood. So as of right now the main types of exercises I enjoy are hot mat anything. I love hot pilates, hot yoga, hot HIIT and I have no problem doing this 5 days a week for consistent exercise. Now that I see the improvements in my mood, flexibility, stamina, etc I want to slightly get into weight training.

I say slightly because I am not really interested in getting super strong and being able to bench press an impressive amount. I just wanna be more toned and see some changes in my body. The last time I did weight training it was with this trainer who’s clientele were taller, stronger, and focused on getting stronger each day. For context: i’m 5”2 and 130 at my heaviest.

The only reason i’m mentioning this is because I hated working out that way. I would be paired up with women who were bench pressing and dead lifting my weight and expected to do the same. I would leave class feeling weak and sore for multiple days a week rather than energized. In comparison to the hot mat classes where I feel stronger & more energized. So my question is, how do I incorporate weight training but still keep my hot mat heavily in rotation?

In addition: I take the hot mat classes & paid a trainer bc I have no knowledge when it comes to the gym so having someone there making sure my form is right and giving me workout plans alleviates a lot of my distain for the gym. I struggle with feeling like i’m just playing on the machines or with the equipment rather than working out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thinking about leaving ABA

I am 20f, making $24 hr and I have been in an RBT for a little over a year now. I currently love my caseload & clients, I don’t have any co workers since I do home sessions, and the hours are reasonable (8-5 pm). The issues I am having are mostly regarding pay and my home/work balance. I have one client who’s parents frequently calls out or make up reasons for cancellation so I have yet to receive a full paycheck since starting this full time schedule in january. The most hours i’ve received are 65 for a two week period.

I also feel as if I do a lot of things outside of my job description, but please correct me if i’m wrong. I am consistently the only communication between the parent and BCBA, I am basically on call from 5:00 am - 9:00 pm because clients parents will call or text about canceling or more recently school placements. I have been having to check in on my clients early child care placements, I have to email scheduling and detail the new school, schedule, and hours. Personally, I don’t think this should be my responsibility, especially given that most of this communication happens after I get off at 5:00 pm.

My other client is perfect scheduling & BCBA wise but even in that sense my company recently informed me that community outings procedures were changing. I am now not permitted to ride in my clients parents car for community outings meaning that I cannot bill for that time. I receive travel pay but it’s 7.25 an hour. I also travel 30 plus minutes every day to my second client.

So my question is, should I look for other employment and if so what would be recommended? I did the math and I believe I would make more money working for a little less hourly but actually making my 80 hours. What should I do
