Are comments such as the 'Milkman' and 'Big Red' derogatory racist comments?

I have been hearing a few nicknames for the some of the NRL players that appear to have anglo european ancestory.

I personally find them a little uncomfortable. These are some of my fav players but hearing the nicknames feel a little cringe. Personally I dont like nicknames ans find them silly, let alone ones with a probable link to ones appearance.

It seems condecending and disrespectful.

I think we should treat people with respect and only call one by their respective name.

For example -

Thomas Jenkins of the Penrith Panters, commonly named 'Milkman' or 'Milky'. Is this a comment about the fact he always 'delivers' or has nordic white features? The fact he is called 'milky' seems quite obvious it is the latter.

Corey Horsburgh of the Canberra Raiders called 'Big-Red' appearing as a celtic white man with ginger hair. Seems to invoke the common racist stereotype of 'ginger' appearance.

Perhaps its time to have a conversation about the impact of these comments have on wider society. Especailly schools (imagine the bullying that goes on due to these commets) and perhaps the producers at certain entertainment conglomerates take heed it is 2026 and we should be respectful and considerate to everyones identity and appearance.

Thank you.

What happened to Jackson Hastings?

Solid player and provided stability in the spine. Good quality number 7.

He would be a good player for a team for experience. Hard done by the Knights in my view.

Unpopular opinion: Nick Stahl casting of John Connor

Nick Stahl portayed a more 'human' and realistric portryal of John Connor, I sence thats that the writers were going for anyway.

*"*The future has not been written. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves..I wish I could believe that."

...

"I feel the weight of the future bearing down on me. A future I don't want. So I keep running... as fast as I can. Anywhere. Nowhere."

As any young man would be in his early 20s, tossing and turning about accepting his likely fate and destiny. He is not supposed to be a wore torn trigger happy 40 year old Connor, and if you were about to be the last hope of humanity i guess you would send alot of your young days running away from that responsbility, wouldnt you?

Think about the scene when John was talking to Katherine in the back her work truck, this is what he said to her:

"...imagine... ...if you knew you were gonna do something important with your life. Something amazing. Maybe the most important thing anyone has ever done.

But there's a catch. Something terrible has to happen. You couldn't... ...live with yourself if you didn't try to stop it..."

In that scene at the cemetary while choking on tear gas he cries:

JC: "Look at me! I'm no leader! I never was! I'm never gonna..."

T-850: "You're right. You're not the one I want. I'm wasting my time."

JC: "Fuck you, you fucking machine!"

T-850: "Better."

JC: "Oh, you were just dicking withme?"

T-850: "Anger is more useful than despair."

Right there - the weight Connor talks about in his opening lines if the film has been lifted...it is anger...not despair...that will lead him to fight instead of running away...he is the human...the enemy is the machine.

Thats all they are...fucking machines.

...then we see the rise of Connor after he shows anger to the machine...he doesnt stop after the Terminator teaches him to fight.

And that is what his last words in the film are, juxtaposed with the openung lines of "So I keep running..."

Not away from the fight...he is now running towards it...

"Maybe the future has been written. I don't know. All I know is what the Terminator taught me: Never stop fighting. And I never will. The battle has just begun."

Plus, the vibe fits perfectly of the post 9/11 melancholic vibe of the world as of 2003, yet still living off the fumes of the modernistic Frutiger Aqua asthetic if the late 90s and early 00s. This is not 1984 or the early 90s anymore. It does have a creepung sence of impending doom following the doomday countdown clock said by the T-850 at the campground.

The desert scenes of them.driving in the camper duriing late afternoon dusk hours create a sense of ...hurry up...the end of the world is looming why arent they there yet...

T3 should be renamed the 'Rise of Connor' more like it as me see the raw transformation of what made Connor who he was. As he said to Katherine "you remind me of my mother" - perhaps giving him the push and drive to be the Connor he knows hes supposed to be.

Its brilliant writing if you think about it and I feel T3 will age nicely as we see the relationship between humanity and AI unfold over the next 10 or so years.

Terminator 3 nostalgia

Anyone find Terminator 3 nostalgic? For some reason the warm tones in T3 gives off this nostalgic feeling, maybe because I saw it when I was 6 years old at the cinemas. I dunno, T3 gives off that 2003 before internet era, coming out of the 90s and into full blown 2000s. It was that last era when action movies had that over the top feel good Michael Bay vibe...

Can someone please clarify the rumours Edward Furlong has been approached by multipleproduction studios for an upcoming Terminator movie? Or is it bs?

If the rumours are true it would make sense due to a 50 year old Edward Furlong being the right age for a war torn Connor leader of Tech-Com fighting skynet in a post- apocalyptic Los Angeles set in 2029.
