66 Riviera

Factory bone stock except for color which I don't think was available but I just liked it. Lots of company lately has pushed my projects back a bit but looks like I'll have some time to wrap this up soon and move on to next one in the queue. I used masking and molotow pen for trim instead of bmf. Can't decide which I like better since both methods have their merits.

1970 1/2 Camaro Z28

Seems to take forever anymore but this one is off the bench and on to the shelf. Usual amt fitment issues but not as bad as some. You just expect it going in so if it's not totally horrible, you're happy....if that makes sense lol. On to the 66 Riviera!!

Nerve wracking part

Oh my I have to spread the body at least half inch to clear interior and chassis. This is when my meticulous build can go to Hell... I got this...(I think)

In search of that Mirror Finish

While my painting results have greatly improved, I'm still not quite there. Here's my process: 1.wash all parts to remove mold release. 2. Panel lines. 3. Fill in sink holes etc. 4. Sand progressively from 600k to 2000k. 5. Wash body again. 6. 1 mist 1 wet coat of primer. 7. After cured 2 mist 1 wet of color. 8. After cured 2 mist 1 wet clear coat. 9. Tamiya polish coarse, fine, finish.

I think I should be gently wet sanding after final clear coat and before polish? If so what grit? I have up to 30k. Thank you so much

Cobra 427

I am delighted to be moving on from this build. It seems the more I strive for perfection the less perfect the results. I swear I think you could spend a year thinking it's perfect and then take pics for uploading and think how the Hell did I not see that? Anyway it went together fairly well except for the huge miss on header/side pipe alignment which is literally a half inch off due to no fault of mine. It's not even close and I wasn't willing to grind and fill the body to move the pipes forward. No one is allowed to turn the car over even though it does look good with that exception. So now on to the 1970 1/2 Camaro and reminding myself that this is a "Fun' hobby lololol

Stash addition

My lovely wife says I cannot die until I complete my entire stash. Ironically, she picked these 2 up at an estate sale so, clearly, a questionable strategy...

All family builds in one place

59 El Dorado, 1969 Nova, 66 beetle, 57 Bel Air, 69 mach one, 62 GTO and 78 El Camino. Were either their 1st cars for the most part of their dream car back in the day

Done with family builds

4 sisters, 2 brothers in law, 2 nieces and 6 months later, I can finally start working on my own collection! Don't get me wrong, it was extremely rewarding and now they all have a little piece of me in their homes. This 78 El Camino is the last and it fought me the whole way of course. Lots of molded in detail which I'm not a fan of but trying to duplicate his Super Sport with kits available.....it is what it is. I forgot the chrome tie downs that should be on top rails of bed so I'm just mailing them lol

Filler pitty

I'm more of a tip taker than a tip giver since I'm still learning but after using the Vallejo putty on left for months now for filling in gaps on body, engine block etc., I decided to try the Mr hobby brand. The Vallejo putty took forever to dry and even then it would gum up my sandpaper and I never really got a good result. The Mr hobby brand dried rock hard overnight and sanded beautifully. I'm completely sold now lol

1970 1/2 Camaro

Been avoiding this one bc of this sub lol. Will be box art stock build except for the interior which will be black...I think. Any fitment/build advice? I will be using Tamiya laquer bottles for details as I have retired my testors enamels.

I'll never build this even though I am a Nascar fan. It is complete in unsealed box. Decals even look to be in good condition but I'd definitely clear coat a couple layers to be safe. Please not for resale. I'll pick up shipping in the US hopefully as close to Florida as possible lol. I got another model coming today and I don't want to go over my self imposed stash limit... DM if interested.
