Made a whimsical corset and skirt!

Corset pattern is by TaylorJeanCox on Etsy, link is https://www.etsy.com/listing/4456275386/corset-sewing-digital-pattern-boned?ref=share\_ios\_native\_control

Skirt pattern is from Pattern Couture also on Etsy, https://www.etsy.com/listing/4336938193/maxi-skirt-sewing-pattern-high-waist?ref=share\_ios\_native\_control

I had to alter the pattern a bit, to fit my bust, waist, and hip, ratio, by connecting my bust size, to the next size up, with a curved ruler. I left it a bit small on purpose because I like a strip of skin showing on the back. Just my personal preference 😊 also it’s really hard lacing it up properly by yourself lol.

The corset is 100% black quilting cotton fused with sf101,
On both the outer corset pieces and the lining pieces. Once I applied the interfacing; I embroidered the panels on my machine. I took a guess with placement, then sewed the panels together! I used spiral steel pre cut boning strips for ease and flexibility. I added decorative stitched adjustable straps, and off the shoulder green chiffon sleeves. And finished her off with gold grommets.

The skirt was much simpler, I stuck to the patterned except, I removed the layer of lining to make it lighter and cooler. I used 100% cotton I got from a Vegas quilt shop, called Sew Yeah Quilting. It a sparkly green with different shades mixed in and I love it! I’m also very happy that the whole outfit is cotton!

The corset took me 6-7 hours with embroidery time and the skirt another 2-3 hours. It was a super fun project! And I’m thinking a great ren fare outfit!

I bought the regular bookshelf design pack, the Halloween one, and the dragon double block. I got the sewing things panel and coffee panel as freebies. I used black quilting cotton with 2.5 oz cut away stabilizer and isacord thread. It’s 54 panels total with each panel being about 8 inches by 8 inches, so I doubled all 22 design panels, made 2 extra of the double block dragons, for 4 total dragons, and 6 extra book panels to equal 54. I made each cotton square 10 inches by 10 inches to fit in the hoop. And each panel took about 2-3 hours to embroider on my single needle Janome MC500. It took about 27 days doing 2 panels a day, to get them all embroidered. I also went through about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 of the 1000 meter spools of each of the thread color, 3 5 packs of needles and more bobbins then I can count. I’m not sure why I decided to take on this massive project but it sure does look awesome already!
